The self- sustainability breaks with the context of living in a capitalist system

that has not been polite with the ecosystem itself. Small communities that want a big

change and reduce the impact of the environmental footprint have adopted this concept.

Trough the past decades, the pollution and the climate change is more visibility for the

human being.

Furthermore, some postures defend it and some others discuss the ways of life

that cause this self-sustainability. It presents an anthropocentric position that put their

relation with the environment as the sustain of the human economy, like the ECLAP

define

Sustainability of the human system only (…) could result in the Earth becoming a
totally artificialized planet if total substitutability of natural resources and services were
possible. The classical economists view, for instance, regards the economy as the
relevant system, and relegates nature to the role of provider of natural resources and
services and of a sink for the wastes produced by human activities. 1

On the other hand, the biocentric position sustain the belief that the society are inside

the nature instead of outside and is enough to maintain a good relationship with the

environment. The important thing that it has to point to, are the way of life has

originated the self-susatainbaility. Procedures like haverst and using just natural

resources to structure their life is one of the principal activities.

Introducing the main topic of self-sustainability, it brought many questions about

how to approach this kind of world issues in an artistic way. The audio collage was a

very interesting and particular project that fit with the complexity of the topic.

The concept of an audio collage is to use the power of improvising and make

spontaneous records that could count a story, subsequently face the challenge of fit the

grupal records and maintain a lineal counting narration.

The analogy of this way of making art and music was telling the story that imply

the life of a community sustaining their life with the ecosystem and their harvesting

methods, in the attempt to make an atmosphere sound of a civilization separated from

the normal life. This idea took the inspiration from the project in Colombia “living

without money” reason the name of the audio collage was called “self-sustainability?”2

The name with question marks put emphasis on the distinct arguments and study

that has been around this topic. The goal is to let the audience with many questions

through this first hearing about what is this topic really about.

To sum up this project, exemplify a different idea of counting story, make

spontaneous, and improvise records that could express emotion. In the final process of

the audio track could, the story try to represent their mystics and spiritual life like rituals

to the natures and the importance of the moon phases that was much related with their

agriculture. The orientation does not focus on answering or discussing points of view to

this kind of life, is to explore what is an audio collage look like and what it takes count

this story like a cinematographic film would do.
