what I understood

Cough is a reflex act, sometimes caused voluntarily. Its main purpose is to expel secretions or
other foreign elements from both the respiratory tract and the larynx, and in pathological
conditions it can indicate the presence of important diseases.
Cough is a defense mechanism of our body. Protects the airways by leaving them clean to
breathe normally, with the drawback that it facilitates the spread of infections (viruses and / or
bacteria). The first hit of cough is the most effective because the air reaches a high speed.
The air flow that occurs with the cough facilitates the expulsion of foreign substances and
mucus, therefore it is not always desirable to eliminate the cough.

A yawn is the involuntary action of holding the jaws open, taking a deep breath for a few
seconds, and closing the jaws again while briefly exhaling. Yawning is closely linked to the
sleep-wake cycle that regulates the hormone called melatonin, and that is why for many years
it has been believed that it is a physiological phenomenon related to the level of brain activity
and the response to stressful situations that, sometimes They can catch us off guard, either
because we are tired or because we are sleepy. In short, yawning is something closely linked
to our evolutionary origins and that has penetrated the most basic functioning of our nervous
system. Now, knowing this does not tell us anything concrete about its usefulness. If we want
to know to what needs this curious biological mechanism could respond, it is necessary to
carry out specific investigations to find out.
