Quantifiers

Quantifiers in English language are those words that allow you to name, count and
organize things or people. Its function is to replace the numbers when the exact
quantity is unknown. For example: some, any, much, many, and none.

Many

It is used to build affirmative, interrogative and


negative sentences. It is also used to talk
about countable words.

The word company (one company, two


companies, many companies)
The word plane (one plane, two planes, many
planes)

Affirmative sentences:

He has many I have many t-


fruits. shirts.
Negative sentences:

There are not many She doesn’t have


students in this class. many dresses..

Interrogative Sentences:

How many Colombian pesos are in one American dollar?

How many liters of water do you need?


Some or Any

They are used when the quantity is known but it


is not necessary to provide the precise number
of it. They are used to talk about both countable
and uncountable nouns, in affirmative
sentences (some), interrogative and negative
sentences (any).

Affirmative sentences:

There is some bread in There are some

Negative Sentences:
I do not have any I do not have any

Interrogative Sentences:

Few or Little

It is used to talk about small quantities of names


or objects. It can be used with both, countable
and uncountable nouns.

Countable: Few

Uncountable: Little

Example:

There are few fruits to export. That company has few


(Hay pocas frutas para entrepreneurs. (Esa empresa
exportar) tiene pocos emprendedores)
There are few companies like
“Paradise Fruits” (Hay pocas
empresas como “Paradise Fruits”.)

We need a little of We have little time to get

How many

It is used to talk about countable nouns.

For example:

How many fruits How many fingers

It is used to talk about uncountable nouns.

For example:
