Guidelines for the jointers attending the training and the assessment program
These guidelines are being informed to all concerned well in advance to ensure that the Jointers
Assessment programs are conducted smoothly. All concerned are requested to take note of these
Guidelines/Rules and ensure compliance. Failure to comply with these may result in the candidate
being disallowed to appear for the assessment.
1. All candidates must reach the assessment venue by the scheduled time. Candidates who have
to travel long distances, must arrange the transportation considering the traffic delays etc.
The assessment will begin at the scheduled time and anyone arriving late will be returned
back.
2. Each jointer or a group of 2 jointers (same company) must have all the required tools in their
respective tool box. Tool boxes of all candidates will be checked prior to start of the
assessment and candidate not having the required tools, as per the list below, will not be
allowed to work. Borrowing of tools from other groups will not be permitted.
3. Crimping tool with the correct dies must be used. Candidates not having proper crimping tools
will earn negative points against their evaluation.
4. Gas torches must be of the correct type. Too big and too small gas torches are not accepted.
5. All candidates must bring the required consumables as listed in the tools list to complete the
job satisfactorily. The consumables too will be checked prior to start of the job.
6. All candidates must bring the required cable supports to ensure the cables are fastened
properly during the assessment. No cable supports will be available at the assessment venue.
7. Candidates appearing for re-assessment should furnish their Old Certificate number if any for
easy traceability.
8. Candidates must bring one recent (not older than 6 months) colour photograph along with
them.
9. All the candidates appearing for the test should wear overall suit, hand gloves, safety helmet
and safety shoes.
10. Fire blankets must be available with all the candidates appearing for the test.
Complete tools sets
In order to have a reliable installation, a jointer must have the required complete sets of tools in his
tool box. Working with improper tools will lead to unsatisfactory installation.
