Nowadays, there are many people were suffering from the problem on learning their

second language especially English language. Besides, usually this problem always be
face by someone who not using this language regularly in their daily life. There are
many reasons and factors why all of this problem are occur. One of the reason is when
someone does not get the guide or support from others, they will feel uncomfortable to
learn and talk using their second language with people in surrounding. Therefore, they
can’t train theirself to improve the skill neither in writing nor speaking on their second
language. As an English teacher, it was our responsibility to think wisely on how we
want to be an effective teacher based on our experiences as a second language
learner.

Firstly, the most important thing that as a teacher we need to know is on how to
attract our students to keep their interest to learning the second language. Students
today mostly want the learning process in the class always be fun and enjoyable. So,
the teachers need to make a research to plan many interesting activities based on the
syllabus on the books to them. As my experiences in the class, my teacher make many
interesting activities to us. The example of the activities that she always do in the class
are write a song, singing a song, acting on a short sketches and solve the puzzle. In
addition, this effort also totally can help the students to easily understand the learning.
So, clearly we can know that from this way we can train ourself to be an effective
teacher soon.

Next, the second way to be an effective teacher are by doing evaluating

continuously on the students in the classroom. Futhermore, by doing this evaluating, we
can know how much the students understood on our teaching. If the result not reaching
our target, that mean there are something wrong either on our teaching skill or the
students problem in learning process. There are many ways to that the teachers do to
evaluate their student such as make a quiz at the end of every topics, make an exam
every month or just simple way by doing the exercise in the class, Usually, from my
experience as a student, it is a routine habit to us to study only when the teacher tell us
there are an exam in a short time. At that time, all the students will busy to stay up all
night studying for their exam. From this experience, the teachers need to make more
evaluating to their students to make sure they are always study and make more a
revision.

Not only that, the way to be an effective teachers, we also need to make
something different with our teaching process in the class. Usually routine as a teacher,
before we want to start our teaching, we need to make an induction set as a introduction
for every topics that we want to teach. From that, we need to use all the knowledge to
be smart and creative in selecting the most interactive induction set for our class. When
I was in the primary school, my English teachers showed us a short English cartoon
such as Dora The Explorace, Blues Clues, Cat Dog, and Wonderpet before she start
teaching. After we watch the cartoon, she asked to us to wrote down about the
characters in the cartoon. So from induction set like that, the students can automatically
know that their teacher want to teach listening skill to them on that day. Besides, the
student also feel very enjoy and the class were not too bored when they are learning
something new in the class. So, to be an effective teacher, we need to be more creative
in selecting the induction set before the teaching session.

As a conclusion, profession as a teacher is the most important profession in the

country. To be a doctor, lawyer, police, millionaire or someone else, we need to keep in
our mind that every success that we achieved, it was started from a good teacher.
Perhaps, teachers play an important role in developing and master in English language
especially in communicational skill. In this modern world, teachers should not just use
chalk and talk in their classroom like those days. So, teacher should master and
upgrade their teaching skills based on the 21 st century to make sure the students are
good in English language. Teachers should face all the challengers during their
teaching periods and be more patients in their carrier.
