SUMMER 2017 INSTRUCTOR: Mirose Francisco

COURSE TITLE: Math 12-E

(Integral Calculus)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course includes topics on the indefinite integral, techniques of integration, the definite integral, applications of the definite integral, improper integrals,
multiple integrals and applications, sequence, series of constants and power series

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
This course aims to:
1. develop among students, graphical, numerical, and algorithmic understanding of
a. the basic ideas of the integral, its properties, and the techniques of integration.
b. the applications of the definite integral in to finding areas of plane regions, volumes of solids, work done by variable forces, forces due to liquids,
average values of functions, arc lengths, surface areas and center of mass
c. the convergence or divergence of sequence and series of constants and variables
d. applications of power series
2. enable to recognize and use the concepts and methods of calculus when they occur in their disciplines.
3. enable students to provide clear explanations of the ideas and key concepts met in the course
4. develop the ability of students to communicate mathematically through correct use of jargons and writing of symbols and notations.
4. enable the students to practice the value of hard work and honesty in meeting their academic requirements, and in using non–original ideas.
