Dear Hiring Professionals:

As an online Arizona State University student majoring in Educational Studies, I would like to fill the
position of Lower School Teacher advertised on the Indeed job-search website and am willing to meet
with you to discuss this opportunity further. I believe that my ability to work well in a teaching team,
interest in pursuing professional development opportunities, and my understanding of child development
make me a strong candidate for the Lower School Teacher position.

As a paraprofessional who worked in the Lahainaluna High School Special Education department, I was
constantly working in a teaching team. I worked alongside one of the two lead Special Education teachers
at Lahainaluna High School as well as with their Educational Assistants. As a team, we discussed what
worked for our diverse group of students and gave each other feedback on what we could each do
individually to ensure that our students were able to access their education in an appropriate and
enjoyable manner.

Through my employment at Lahainaluna High School, I was presented the opportunity to further my
professional development by taking an online course to become a Registered Behavior Technician. After
successfully completing the 40-hour course, I took the certification exam and passed on the first try. This
made me eligible to continue working with students with special needs who require a Registered Behavior
Technician per their Individualized Education Program.

Over the course of my undergraduate schooling, I have taken several classes that focused on aspects of
human and child development. At the University of Nevada, Reno, I took a class about human
development across the lifespan which addressed childhood development. I also took psychology and
sociology classes, both of which addressed childhood developmental milestones and issues within
psychology and sociology. With Arizona State University, I took a class dedicated to child and adolescent
development as well as a class dedicated to educating me about child safety, health, and nutrition.

It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a warm and nurturing teacher who
will make a positive contribution to your school. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss the Lower
School Teacher position further. I will contact you before April 10 to discuss my application. If you wish
to contact me, I may be reached at (808)-555-1234, or by e-mail at naceret@asu.edu. Thank you for your
time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Nicole Aceret
