Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:


1. present question words when, how many, possessive’s and present simple questions with do.
2. practice listening skills.

Activities 1. Teacher elicit where the children are in the picture.
2. Teacher read through the questions with pupils. Checking understanding of new language (possessive’s,
do, how many)
3. Teacher play the recording through twice, pausing in between to give pupil’s thinking time.
4. Pupils compare their answers in pairs.
5. Check with the class, playing the recording a third time.

Activities 1. Elicit and write the alphabet on the board
2. Write the word cat on the board. Model using a dictionary to find the word and read the definition.
3. Put the pictures of the people from Student’s Book p.18 on the board. Show pupils the word cards and put
them randomly on the board too.
4. Have pupils work in at least seven groups. Assign one word to each group and ask them to find the word in

the dictionary.
5. For each of the seven words, ask one pupil to come out and move their word card next to the correct
picture on the board.
6. Follow the steps for Vocabulary and Activity 1 in Teacher’s Book p.36
