RE: Religious Education Parent Information Night

Dear Parent/Cares,

As discussed in previous terms the Bishops of Western Australia have the

responsibility of ensuring that Catholic Schools teach the Religious Education
Programs they have approved. The purpose of Religious Education is to
provide an understanding of the Christian message as the Catholic Church
hands it on. Your child will be guided to study, research and learn what the
Catholic Church teaches.

This term students will be engaging in the Religious Education unit of

Penance (6.6). This Year 6 unit explores how emotions can influence the way
people behave and the relationships they have with each other. Your child will
learn about the ways that their emotions can affect them and how they may
reflect upon and guide their own emotions.

Through the Parable of the Lost Sheep Jesus taught that God is a loving
Father who forgives. Your child will examine this parable and learn how
people may repair their relationship with God and others through the
Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Christians are strengthened by God to show love and mercy to others. Your
child will learn that when people are in right relationship with God and others,
they are better able to guide their emotions to reflect God’s love.

I invite you to a parent information session to provide an opportunity to

discuss the learning that will take place during this term. I encourage full
participation throughout the evening. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage
and provide input into the direction of your child’s learning. Please find the
details below:
