Project T.H.A.M.I.L.
Project THAMIL (Tamils Helping and Motivating to Inspire
Leadership) aims to identify strengths in individuals through

joined CanTYD in May 2007. As
CanTYD’s Events Coordinator, Nikila
has organized several events, including
Spotlight and the Awards of Excellence. In
addition to her role as CanTYD’s Events Coordinator, Nikila
serves as a Youth Outreach Worker for R.H. King Academy,
where she mentors, motivates and guides youth towards
realizing their full potential. Nikila has also served as President
of the Tamil Youth of Malvern Committee at the Malvern
Family Resource Centre. Nikila’s goal is to ensure that each

pursuing a B.A. with a double major in City Studies and
Human Geography at the University of Toronto.

Youth Forum
In January 2010, CanTYD hosted its annual Youth Forum.
The purpose of this event was to discuss, tackle, and resolve
the main ongoing issues and challenges faced by youth in
the Tamil community. In an effort to gain the support of
mainstream communities, CanTYD partnered with the York
Regional Police to host the event. YRP assisted CanTYD by
providing space for the Youth Forum as well as promoting the
event to people within their network
