Promoting Success for You and Your Students!

These task cards are a sampler from the following sets of task cards. You may use them as a quick assessment
to determine if they will work well for your students.

Find the Area Task Cards

Elementary teachers will download 30 printable area task cards for
teaching 3rd and 4th grade students to find the area of composite
figures, such as, triangles, rectangles and polygons.

• The first 15 cards require students to calculate the area using square
units.
• The last 15 cards require students to calculate the area by using the
given measurements of two sides.

They work well in math centers for area activities and games, such as a
scavenger hunt, SCOOT and more.

Find the Perimeter Task Cards

Elementary teachers will download 30 printable perimeter task cards for
teaching 3rd and 4th grade students. Students will find the perimeter of
various composite figures and shapes.

They work well in math centers or stations for activities and games,
such as a scavenger hunt, SCOOT and more.

Teachers may use them in math stations as a review, test prep,

formative assessment or as extra practice for special education math
students.

cards and answer cards face down to play a memory (concentration) game. Great for small groups.
3. Whole Group Game (SCATTER) – Give half of the students a question card and half an answer card. If
answer cards aren’t provided, create them on index cards. Students must scatter (mingle) around the room
to find their correct partner. This encourages content-rich discussions.
4. Use cards with basic board games or other games. Student may move game piece when a question is
answered correctly. (Battleship, Chutes & Ladders, Don’t Break the Ice, etc.)

area journals during designated transition times.
6. Use cards for a game of Jeopardy or similar quiz show game.

toe board on the floor. Students toss bean bags when a question is answered correctly.
8. Display 1-2 cards per day for math journal writing.
9. Hang task cards along a wall or set one on each desk. Students record answers moving to the next card
when a designated sound or motion cues the movement. (SCOOT)
10. May be used repeated practice or for differentiated instruction. Students may be given fewer cards to
complete or complete only the odds or evens. Task cards replace worksheets!
