1.0 Project Information
The following document describes design calculations for module mounting structure for utility ground mount at Nashik. The structure has 4 panels in landscape and a approx. 40m table width. The columns are
spaced 3.97m apart.
Other design parameters are:
a) Tilt Angle: 20 degrees
b) Location: Nashik, Maharashtra
c) Wind Speed: 150 kmph
d) Minimum Ground Clearance 500 mm
e) Module Configuration: 4LX20 (4 in landscape, with a table length of 40m)

3.0 Proposed Foundations:
Bored Piles with the following attributes are proposed to be uniformly used as foundations:
Diameter: 300 mm
Pile Cap dia: 500 mm
Depth of Pile : 1100 mm 200 mm depth

5.0 FOUNDATION DESIGN – COMPRESSION, TENSION AND LATERAL:
Embedded structural steel piles are used as foundations. The % of steel in pile is 0.6% - see calculations S101/S103 for capacities.
As per the attached final geotechnical report, 7 BOREHOLES were taken and Site SPT and lab tests were done to ascertain soil parameters. The following points are used for foundation design:
a) All boreholes hit hard murrum at 0.5-0.6m depth. The murrum resulted in repeated breakage of SPT Split Samplers – due to its hardness.
b) Above 0.5-0.6m depth, cohesive soil was encountered. The properties of this soil were found via laboratory tri-axial tests – with φ = 18.50 and c = 1.26 kg/cm2
c) 2 Boreholes BH2 and BH4 reveal laboratory parameters of φ = 18.50 and c = 1.26 kg/cm2 right till depth of pile.
d) BH03 had the lowest values, with a SPT of 24 reported at 0.5m and SPT>50 at 1.1m.
At 0.5m, SPT = 24. As per the Standard Peck and Hanson Correlation (see next page), this corresponds to φ = 340
At 1.1m, SPT > 50. Assuming SPT = 50, as per Standard Peck and Hanson Correlation, this corresponds to φ = 410
An average of 37.50 is used for design over entire pile length.

6.0 CONCLUSION
It is found the resultant theoretical capacities of proposed foundations are more than imposed demands, in both possible situations. The same may be used for construction after carrying out pile testing for
confirmation.
