Ethics

1. What is the difference between ethics and Philosophy?

Ethics are referred to as moral guidelines a person can follow when doing actions. Hence, they
can be used as moral advice or guidelines for the style of living in an individual. Thus, ethics
describe what is morally right and morally wrong. Social beliefs and religious teaching act as the
foundation for ethics in society.

Philosophy means is challenging. However, in general, philosophy can be described as the study
of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as
an academic discipline. Hence, in brief, philosophy is a theory about something.

2. In your own words, why ethics is important?

Ethics are moral principles or values that govern the conduct of an individual or a group. It is not
a burden to bear, but a prudent and effective guide which furthers life and success. Ethics are
important not only in business but in academics and society as well because it is an essential
part of the foundation on which a civilized society is built.

3. How is logic related to ethics?

Logic is related to Ethics. Because logic tells us how to think right so that an individual can do
the right and doing the right with the basis of morality is what we consider as Ethics

4. What id difference between Human act and Act of man? Give specific examples

Human acts are actions done intentionally, free and deliberate of a person. These are actions
that a man properly master for he does them with full knowledge and of his own will.

Acts of Man acts of a person without the proper use of reasons.

5. Identify through your search on the internet or newspaper cases of a politician who is
accused of corruption and or bribery. Name the one’s involved and the outcome of the
case.

Public Services

Companies contend with a high corruption risk when dealing with the public services.
Approximately half of business executives reported being asked for a bribe by someone in the
government in 2016 (SWS 2016). Nearly three out of five business reported expecting to give
gifts in order ‘to get things done’, but only one in ten reported expecting to give gifts to get an
operating license (ES 2015). Irregular payments and bribes in the public services sector
sometimes occur (GCR 2015-2016). Philippine officials involved in processing documents related
to civil and property registration and building permits are more likely to solicit bribes compared
to officials dealing with other types of services (Ombudsman’s Office Survey 2013). Inefficient
government bureaucracy is ranked as the most problematic factor for doing business in the
Philippines (GCR 2017-2018). Civil servants often do not have the resources or abilities to fulfill
their tasks free from corruption and red tape (BTI 2016). Furthermore, civil servants are
generally not recruited in a competitive manner; appointments are based on a practice of
patronage (BTI 2016).The total number of procedures required to set-up operations, including
registering the company with local government and getting a construction permit, are
significantly higher than regional averages (DB 2017). Getting electricity takes significantly less
time than elsewhere in the region (DB 2017).

6. Most often some politicians are morally upright before they join politics. Once they
take part in politics they turn corrupt. They don’t care about their reputation
anymore. What do you think is wrong with politics or what is wrong with politicians?
Cite biblical enlightment and EG ehites counsels to support your explenations?

It’s natural to think of elections when we think of political corruption. People or organisations
with their own agendas can skew voting. They may secretly give parties big donations. Or
parties and candidates can buy votes instead of winning them. But political corruption isn’t just
about election rigging. It can lead politicians in office to steer away from good government.
Their decisions can benefit those who fund them. The public interest comes second. Political
corruption can divert scarce resources from poor and disadvantaged people. This is especially
common in countries where democratic institutions are weak or absent. Private rather than
public interests dictate policy. This means an ethical line has been crossed. Governments can’t
act freely and democracy can’t function. Our trust in politicians is damaged. We can turn away
from involvement with how we’re governed
