My expectations for today, 2/3:
Objectives: Students will be able to

1. Critically read poetry in small groups

2. Present to the class a report of the poem they analyzed
3. In their own words, define poetry

Behavioral Expectations:

- No talking while anyone else is talking (respect) please -- there will be a lot of
time to talk amongst your table groups (which is something I’ll have to take
away if there is too much side conversation)
- Groups will be working together on this assignment
- I reserve the right to move students around if there are any negative
behavioral situations

Are there any questions/issues with these expectations???

What am I even doing?

1. In groups, you will be analyzing a poem and filling out a report for that poem
2. After groups are all finished, there will be “poetry critique” where each
group (all members of the group) present to the class their findings
a. What does it mean to “read critically?”
3. EVERY member of the group must have a role in the presentation

1. As groups are presenting, think of questions to ask when they are finished
a. The class MUST ask at least two questions to the presenting group

~I will collect the sheets when we are finished to grade your work -- part of your
grade will be how well your group worked together on this assignment~

blue and the white.
Badges and pistols rejoice in the night.
And we watch the news,
and we see him die tonight
tonight the night his baby said goodbye,
roses in the road, teddy bear outside,
bullet there on the right.
Where's love when you need it?
