A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar
and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I

thought it was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at
school and that was frustrating.
1. I had no reason to learn English, I had no personal motivation, I
was not interested and I did not understand the need to learn a
foreign language for myself.

2. The main reason why I didn't study English before was because
my family was poor and had no financial resources, which is why
I studied what my high school offered in my hometown

3. I did not study English before, because I did not have a vision to
achieve clear goals or objectives in my life, I always saw myself
as a failure and did not pay attention to a changing and
developing world

4. Another reason was that when I was working and at the same
time I was in high school, everything around me had instructions
in Spanish, so there was no need to learn English, there was no
motivation or reasons to improve myself.

5. I did not understand my English teacher in high school that was

decisive and the main reason for losing my interest, he did not
have the teaching or pedagogical skills to educate, he was also
disinterested with the students.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name
and explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.
1. If I had learned English earlier, I would have had more job opportunities and
perhaps lived in a country where the primary language is English.

2. If I had learned English before, I would now be a civil engineer, build

structures in different parts of the United States or even the world.

3. If I had learned English previously, I would be working as a translator for a

private travel agency, providing information about tourist places in Latin
America and traveling on airlines on different continents

4. If I had learned English before, I would be a professional in some engineering

and I would have fulfilled my dreams, I would also have better working
conditions and have a family.

5. If I had learned English earlier, I would have taken my English courses without
so much effort and time.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)
Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.
1. I am studying English because it improves my job profile and I can
access national and international job fields.
2. I am studying English because I am passionate about the foreign
language of the United States. I like to know its culture, its science, its
politics and its technology.
3. I am studying English because it makes it easier for me to communicate
with foreign people and thus improve my quality of life personally,
educationally and professionally.
4. I am studying English because they facilitate my university and technical
development in the institution where I am currently studying.
5. I am studying English so that I can communicate in that language, travel
to the United States and collaborate with them with the problem of the
virus that is attacking that nation. I want to offer my services and improve
my communication and my ability to collaborate in public health.
2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a

more satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and
English is the most important language.

1. Being proficient in English would improve my chances of getting an

international job, I would have a better financial remuneration and I could
leave the country.
2. Improving my knowledge of speaking, writing and understanding the
English language will improve my university and professional skills.
3. Being proficient in English will facilitate the performance of projects,
achievements and goals on a personal level.
4. Being proficient in English will improve my communication with my
friends abroad and I will be able to travel to different parts of the world to
communicate, read and speak with people.
5. Being proficient in English will allow me to meet women in the United
States and be able to fulfill my dream of marrying a foreigner.
