COIN BASED UNIVERSAL MOBILE BATTERY CHARGER USING

SOLAR PANEL

ABSTRACT

The coin-based mobile battery charger developed for providing a unique

service to the rural public where grid power is not available for
partial/full daytime and a source of revenue for site providers. The
coin-based mobile battery charger can be quickly and easily installed
outside any business premises. The mobile phone market is a vast
industry, and has spread into rural areas as a essential means of
communication. While the urban population use more sophisticated
mobiles with good power batteries lasting for several days, the rural
population buy the pre owned mobile phones that require charging
frequently. Many times battery becomes flat in the middle of
conversation particularly at inconvenient times when access to a
standard charger isn't possible. The coin-based mobile battery chargers are
designed to solve this problem. Also in this project it is been planned to
implement sun tracking system for solar panel to improve the power
efficiency of the solar pannel

The user has to plug the mobile phone into one of the adapters and insert
a coin; the phone will then be given a micro-pulse for charging. It does not
bring a mobile from 'dead' to fully charged state. The charging capacity of
the mobile is designed with the help of pre defined values. It is, of course,
possible to continue charging the mobile by inserting more coins. This
compact and light weight product is designed to cater for the growing
number of rural mobile users worldwide. A suitable micro controller is
programmed for all
the controlling applications .the source for charging is obtained from solar
energy.

INTRODUCTION

The main objective of this project is inserting the coin using charge for your
mobile phone in public places. This project is very useful to people who are all
using mobile phone without charging condition in pubic places. In this project,
who are all using mobile phones in outside of home are office without charging
condition. The coin based mobile phone charger is very useful to that person for
using coin to charge for that mobile. The solar power is used for charging the
batteris.

LETERATURE SURVEY

The growth of mobile phone market is phenomenal in recent years and

the need for charging the mobile battery is required anytime and anywhere. In
many developing countries the grid power is not available for few hours to
several hours on daily basis especially in semi urban and rural areas where the
mobile phones are the essential communication device. While the urban
population use more sophisticated mobiles with good power batteries lasting
for few days, the rural population buy the pre owned mobile phones that
require charging frequently even two or three times a day. In the event of
availability of abundant solar power. a coin based universal mobile battery
charger is designed and developed . This device is like a vending machine for
mobile battery charging at kiosks and the user has to plug the phone in to one of
the adapters and insert a coin for charging at a constant current for a definite
duration.

The solar power application has been used for charging. Solar chargers convert
light energy into DC current for a range of voltage that can be used for charging
the battery.

DESCRIPTION:
Many embedded systems have substantially different designs according to their
functions and utilities. In this project design, structured modular design concept
is adopted and the system is mainly composed of a single microcontroller, Lcd,
Slot sensor, relay, mobile charger, solar panel, battery.

The microcontroller located at the centre of the block diagram forms the
control unit of the entire project. Embedded within the microcontroller is a
program that helps the microcontroller to take action based on the inputs
provided .

To implement the above project mainly we are using Microcontroller, slot

sensor, LCD, mobile charger, Relay, solar panel boost circuit.

In this project slot sensor is used for to insert the coin.the sensor senses
and sends the corresponding electrical output signal to microcontroller. The
microcontroller unit analyses the number of coin dropped in the coin box
depending on the coin count, mobile charges. The battery is charged using the
solar power.
demo points:

For demo purpose we are using slot sensor to detect any obstacle. in this slot
which consider as a coin.
The people will deposit the money in the coin box. The sensor senses the coin
and gives the output signal to the relay. According to the money paid by the
people, t h e r e l a y on the gate and mobile charges.

In this project we are using slot sensor, for coin detection and mobile charging,
and solar energy for charing the battery.
In the above block diagram LCD is utilized to demonstrate the working of
the entire unit.
