CHAPTER-1

A STUDY ON PHYSICAL MARKETING

INTRODUCTION:
Marketing is as old as mankind. Educational Institutions trying to attract students,
actors promoting films, politicians seeking votes, Insurance agents selling new
policies are examples of marketing in practice. Business need to practice
marketing for achieving growth and generating profits to survive. Marketing is
the process of finding consumer needs and serving those needs profitably. Thus
customer is the heart of marketing activities. Marketing people is involved in
Marketing 10 types of entities: - goods, services, experiences, events, persons,
places, properties, organizations, information and ideas.

DEFINITION OF MARKETING: -

Some definitions of marketing are: -

“Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing,

promotion and distribution of ideas, goods and services to create exchanges that
satisfy individual and organizational goals.”

---American Marketing Association

“Marketing is a societal process by which individuals and groups obtain what

they need and want through creating, offering and freely exchanging products of
services and of value with others.”

---Philip Kotler

6
PHYSICAL MARKETING:
Lots of small businesses have difficulty with deciding which kind of marketing
to do, because of a limited budget. Print ads in newspapers and magazines ads are
the best example of Physical marketing and other examples such as Flyers, Flex,
Canopy, TV ads, Radio ads etc.

In Physical Marketing Marketers will effortlessly reach their targeted local

audience.

Physical marketing has a more personal approach because marketers can have a
person-to-person relationship in showing the public about their brand’s name.

It can be quickly recognized by the public simply because they are previously
exposed to this type of strategy. It is something that most people today can have
access on.

Some Elements of Physical marketing are as follows:

Print Marketing: Print advertising enables the use of the newspaper in flow to
focus on all the advertisements. Even though print marketing is the most well-
known form of advertising.

Broadcast marketing: Broadcast Marketing means advertising through

television and radio. Broadcast marketing are so expensive but also helps in
reaching a larger audience in a very short span of time.

Direct Marketing: In Direct marketing printed materials such as brochures,

postcards, leaflets, and canopy have been used for sales promotional activities.

4 Physical Marketing Tactics For Those Who’ve Been Focusing
Online
Here are some of the best physical marketing tactics to try after focussing on the
online marketing world for so long.

1. Display Stands.

When it comes to marketing to your customers online, don’t underestimate the

power of a friendly face and kind words. Although it’s important to get the
balance right – nobody enjoys being stopped by a pushy salesperson when they’re
trying to get on with their grocery shopping – a physical presence, combined with
interesting pop up display stands like these can help potential customers to put a
name to your company and see your ‘human’ side.
Along with that, bear in mind that many customers today enjoy the convenience
of shopping online, but they still prefer to speak to a fellow human being when it
comes to deciding which companies to go with. When done correctly, stalls,
marketing stands, and even trade show exhibition stands can have a lasting effect.

2. Posters

If you want to grab the attention of as many potential customers as possible

without the need to go online, then posters and banners are the perfect way to do
it. Well -designed, strategically placed posters and banners will catch the eye of
numerous people, but it’s important to carefully consider where you are going to
put them if you want to enjoy the optimum effect. For example, places such as
public transportation stations, food courts, and large banners on the side of the
road are all places where people are going to naturally be looking and more likely
to take notice of your advertisements. The best way to get results from this is to
keep your poster or banner design eye-catching, short, and to the point.

3. Sponsorship.

Sponsoring events, sports teams, networking sessions, and other worthy causes
are a great way of getting your business out there and connecting with people in
a physical, offline space. Bear in mind that the power of face-to-face conversation
is still hugely effective; we still remember the conversations we had offline much
more than we do those we have online.
Therefore, sponsoring events such as trade shows or charity fundraisers can go a
good way when it comes to starting meaningful conversations about your

8
company. Even better – you can take the opportunity to improve your presence
online by including something worth tweeting about or Instagram!

4. Physical Branding.

Lastly, physical branding can be one of the most powerful offline methods of
getting the word out about your company, regardless of your budget. There are
various simple ways of doing this. For example, if you run a company that sells
products online, simply upgrading your packaging options can go a long way
when it comes to your physical brand. Take advantage of any physical branding
opportunities that you can find. They are everywhere, from branded t-shirts to
fridge magnets or bags of sweets! Or, you could even use your car to advertise
your brand.

CHAPTER-2

NEED OF THE STUDY

A company of any nature is majorly deals with Marketing. The output and the
productivity of the company is derived with respect to marketing strategies. It is
important for a business to identify and select a target market so it can direct its
marketing efforts to that group of customers and better satisfy their needs and
wants. This enables the business to use its marketing resources more efficiently.
Primary target markets are those market segments to which marketing efforts are
primarily directed, while secondary markets are smaller or less vital to a product's
success.
 Companies can market to each group effectively and appropriately
 Develop A Marketing Plan
 Focus Your Marketing Program
 Depth research to reach its specific target market in order to succeed
 This improves efficiency

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY :

 To measure the Market share of sales and service offered at RED SOLAR.
 To study the desired level of product or service awareness at RED SOLAR.
 To study the source required to generate leads and measures to reach their
target audience.
 Monitoring the plan performance to take corrective action as necessary to
assure that results match the plan projection.
 To enable the firm to take measures using information from this project, to
increase the Growth objective and current business size and thereby
increasing the level of output

10
METHODOLOGY:

PRIMARY DATA:
In this study primary data was collected. The primary data for this
research study was collected through a questionnaire; the data was collected
from 8 Clients of the REDSolar Company which served as the primary source
of data for the analysis of this research and that lead this research study to the
exploration of customer relationship management. Research approach was
used with a view to know the experience of clients. The research questions
are then confirmed or rejected by subsequent analysis of the pure quantitative
data. After receiving permission from the company, the questionnaire was
distributed to few potential clients. The data collected was then graphed and
analyzed.

The customer feedback survey was administered to few clients of redsolar

company all responses were received.

SECONDARY DATA:
It refers to the data that has been already collected. The secondary data, which
has been used to carry out this study, is taken from several testimonials and
websites.

ANALYSIS OF DATA:
Researcher has identified suitable statistical and analytical software after
gathering of data. Researcher has used software to analysis data i.e. Microsoft
EXCEL and other suitable statistical tool also used for data analysis purpose.

11
LIMITATIONS:

 The initial cost of purchasing a solar system is fairly high.

 solar energy can still be collected during cloudy and rainy days, the
efficiency of the solar system drops.
 Solar PV panels require a lot of space and some roofs are not big enough
to fit the number of solar panels that you would like to have.
 Solar energy has to be used right away, or it can be stored in large batteries.
These batteries, used in off-the-grid solar systems, can be charged during
the day so that the energy is used at night. This is a good solution for using
solar energy all day long but it is also quite expensive

ABOUT THE PHYSICAL MARKETING WORK IN

VISAKHAPATANAM

Physical marketing is a set up where buyers can physically meet the sellers and
purchase the desired merchandise from them in exchange of money.

Examples: Shopping malls, department stores, retail stores, etc.

HOW SOLAR SYSTEM WORKS?

1. Solar panels turn sunlight into DC energy.
2. Inverter converts the DC energy to AC electricity.
3. Service Panel distributes power where needed through your home.
4. Utility meters track energy produced and energy used.
5. Grid connection ensures access to continuous power at light.
6. Business. Today, the Code is a bedrock on which we base our individual, as

HOW ON GRID SYSTEM WORKS?

COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLING A RESIDENTIAL

SOLAR PROJECT
Your roof-top solar project would include the following components –
• Solar PV module
• Grid Tied Inverter
• Module Mounting structures
• Junction Boxes, DCDB and Net-Metering
• Cable and other related accessories
• Additional Steel for raised structures

26
TYPES OF SOLAR SYSTEMS:

ONGRID SYSTEM:
You don’t have to worry about storing any energy; the grid will usually be there
to make sure all the loads can run when the user wants them. On-Grid solar
systems are connected to the utility grid, which has been delivering power to your
homes conventionally, such as BESCOM in Bengaluru. As a result, home owners
can export excess power produced back to the grid and import power from the
grid if the consumption is lesser than production, say at night or on a windy day.

Pros: These are the simplest & most cost-effective systems to install at your home.
These systems would be able to pay for themselves by offsetting your electricity
bill in 5-6 years.

Cons: On-grid solar systems only generate power when the utility grid is
available. They must be connected to the grid to function. Hence, they won’t
provide power incases of power cuts.

27
OFFGRID SYSTEM :
Off-grid can be stand-alone power system or mini-grids typically to provide a
smaller community with electricity. Off-grid solar power also stores DC
electricity in batteries. Off-grid systems are not connected to the utility grid;
instead, they are connected to batteries which store excess power, which is used
in the event of non-production, say in the night. These systems can use only as
much power as they produce.

28

SOLAR PANNELS PRODUCTION:

The amount of energy that solar panel systems produce are a function of two
factors -
 a) power rating of the panels b) amount of sunlight hitting the panels (
called solar irradiance, for Bengaluru)

Most solar panels have wattage between 250-325 W, which means that each such
panel, at full efficiency will be able to produce 250-325 W power, per hour. As
per solar irradiance data for Bengaluru & Vizag, the average hours of full
efficiency are anywhere between 4 & 6 on a sunny day. Thus, if you’ve installed
a 3kW system at your house, you can expect an output of 12-18 units (kWh) of
electricity production on an average sunny day.

1-KW solar panel system generates on an average of 4 kWh or 4 Units per day.
Which translates to 120 units per month. Do check your electricity bill to check

29
what your usage is. If your usage is 600 units per month, Power of Solar Panel
System = Monthly usage/120 = 600/120 = 5-KW system

SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION PROCESS :

These are the following milestones for solar panel installation process:

A. Document Collection and BESCOM Feasibility Process

B. Installation of Solar Panel, Inverter and Mounting Structure

C. Net Metering Synchronization

D. Monthly System Maintenance, Insurance and Guarantee

Agreement: You’ll secure predictable solar costs for years to come depending
on your payment option. No hidden fees or worries thanks to our incredible
warranty.

System Design: We’ll visit your home to examine your roof and take
measurements. Then, our engineers will design a custom system to meet your
energy needs.

Installation Most solar installations take one day. Our solar concierge handles
everything from permits to inspections.

Activation: Once the utility gives approval, you can start generating your own
clean, renewable energy.

CUSTOMERS OPINION ON RED SOLAR

41
Excellent on all counts. Responsive, professional, fast, and high quality. Good follow up and
immediate troubleshooting to get everything up, running, and registered. From beginning to
end I was highly impressed and satisfied with RED Solar. Every aspect of the installation was
exceptional. Customer Service/Installers/Follow up was all incredible. I did a fair amount of
web research and then did 3 phone interviews of potential installers. Solar Energy was timely,
professional and flexible in their proposal (some installers wanted to do things ONLY their
way or didn't call back for days), and the actual installation was completely uneventful, looks
great and the paperwork and coordination with the utility was all handled by them with no
involvement from me. And the system is working just fine. Their price was very competitive

I am aware of subsidies and also the climate change which affects the solar system, I have
awareness about how solar system works in different seasons and also how it works. I have
also referred to my friends about the red solar as its one time investment and like the red solar
team way of approach, and was convinced to install. I want to upgrade the system by installing
and would be approaching the team soon.

42
We contacted red solar; we met with Rajesh Varma who was extremely helpful in answering
all my questions and accommodating all of our needs. We always desired solar system we
thought it wasn't going to be possible to stay within our budget .RED Solar made it very
possible. They designed it to be installed right where we had planned for it. The installers were
very polite, friendly and professional throughout the entire installation. It was a seamless
installation our solar system was installed within 2 weeks of our initial conversation. We highly
recommend RED Solar to anyone that is tired of paying a high electric bill.

Being a science lecturer, I have always believed in effective utilization of resources & being
environmentally responsible. So I decided to go solar then I found RED Solar recommended
by my brother. They are very friendly, responsible & trustworthy. They provide the best
installation and maintenance, services for their products.no problems in technical field as well.
I have saved a lot in terms of consumption as well as money. I’m aware of subsidies. Till date
I haven’t faced any problem with the equipment.

43
Being a customer I would say this is a big investment and a relatively new and sophisticated
technology, you’re likely to have a lot of questions both before and after your purchase. Look
for a company that offers customer support you can rely on for pre-purchase information,
troubleshooting and any other assistance you might need after installation.redsolar is one of
them. While a lot of expense and planning goes into the purchase and installation of solar
panels, if you choose carefully, you’re likely to be pleased with the results once your solar
panels are in place and your utility bill is a mere pittance. You can also be proud you’re doing
your part to reduce air pollution and harness natural and renewable energy sources

On the basis of my study, I can conclude by stating my findings.

 The culture of RED SOLAR was very dynamic, and vigilant.

 RED SOLAR is a customer centric organization.
 The company has a limited staff, job rotating was done more often.
 They had another branch in Bangalore, which they have just initiated
few months ago so employment engagement was very high.

44
SUGGESTIONS
RED SOLAR is a customer centric organization, they deliver what they promise,
most of their raw material is out sourced panels are manufactured from VIKRAM
AND WARRIE, not only panels they also procure invertors from DELTA and
FRONIOUS these procured raw materials take time to arrive and the
commencement of project gets delayed.

If they can produce their own raw material or if they can resolve the issue of
project getting delayed, the company has no other negative remarks.
