To Whom it May Concern,

It is my great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Michael
Hamilton. I worked with Michael as a cooperating teacher at Ebenezer Elementary School, in
Lebanon, Pennsylvania. It is because of this interaction that I am recommending him for a
teaching position.
In my experiences working with Michael, he demonstrated several qualities that I believe
qualify him as a strong teacher. One of those qualities, was his ability to come into work every
day excited and eager to motivate students to learn. He was prepared and willing to take on any
task that came up. Michael does not shy away from “jumping right in” and inserted himself into
our classroom routine flawlessly. He also developed personal connections with each student,
which led them to have an intrinsic desire to do well during Michael’s lessons and activities.
Another quality Mr. Hamilton possesses is an enjoyment and respect for the children. Through
his day-to-day interactions with the students, it was evident that he enjoyed working with
children and respected their various differences. On numerous accounts, he would approach me
with new ideas and observations on what might help students who need new accommodations
and different learning approaches. His wealth of knowledge in the field of special education
shined through in these moments.
In addition to Michael’s excellence in developing relationships with students, the quality
of his lessons and activities were well beyond that of a learning teacher. With each lesson he
produced, he continually “wowed” with his ability to make learning interesting, fun, and
meaningful. He was regularly looking for new approaches to cover the content area. In
conjunction with his excellent lesson, he was also receptive to feedback and self-reflective. All
teachers know self-reflection is the key to fine-tuning our craft. Michael was willing to self-
reflect and address how he could improve each activity he did.
Mr. Hamilton proved himself to be a collaborator and enjoyable colleague. He went
above and beyond at Ebenezer, attending meetings that were not mandated for him, offering
ideas and insight during grade level meetings, volunteering for school wide events, and actively
participating in parent teacher conferences. It is because of this and the aforementioned qualities
that I recommend him without any reservation for your teaching position. He would truly be an
asset to your school community.

Sincerely,
Darci Smith
