Sigunit®-L20
Liquid shotcrete accelerating admixture for the wet spray
process
Construction

Product
Description Liquid accelerator for the wet spray shotcrete process.
Uses Sigunit®-L20 is a liquid accelerator for the wet spray process of concrete in thin or
thick stream applications (gunite and shotcrete) i.e. for:
 Shotcrete with high initial strengths
 Heading stabilisation in tunnelling
 Rock and slope stabilisation
 Underground linings (i.e. in tunnels)
To form permanent gunite or shotcrete shells
Characteristics The accelerator’s effect is dependent on the cement content, type and age,
Advantages / substrate temperature and type, shotcrete temperature, layer thickness and spray
process / equipment. The water/cement ratio of the basic concrete mix is another
®
important parameter which influences the acceleration effect of Sigunit -L20.
®
The following properties distinguish Sigunit -L20:
 Exceptional early strength development
 Low rebound
Layer thicknesses up to 30 cm can be applied in one operation
Improves the bond of the shotcrete to rock and concrete, making overhead
spraying easier
Chloride free, does not attack or corrode iron or steel reinforcement

Product Data

Form
Appearance / Colours Yellowish liquid
Packaging 250 kg non-returnable containers (drums)
1000 kg returnable IBC’s

Storage
Storage Conditions / Sigunit®-L20 must be stored in its original containers.
Shelf Life
Sigunit®-L20 has a reaction in air with atmospheric humidity[moisture] or rain etc.,
®
and must therefore always be stored in sealed containers. Sigunit -L20 should only
be decanted into clean containers. Avoid mixing with air - filling through floor inlets
or immersed pipes is best. Containers must always be properly sealed.
Do not store in aluminium tanks.

Application Details
Dosage The correct dosage must be determined by preliminary testing. For layer
thicknesses of up to about 20 cm in one pass, dosage is between 3% and 6% by
weight of binder.
The following Sika products are generally used to improve the performance or
application properties of the basic concrete mix:
®
- SikaTard -203
® ®
- Sika ViscoCrete SC-305
®
- SikaTard -930
®
- SikaPump

Application
Instructions
Notes on Application / Sigunit®-L20 must be added with a gauging device suitable for the wet spray
Limitations process.
Skilled nozzle operation and thorough mixing within the concrete are essential.
The fresh concrete characteristics (correct workability) must be adjusted to suit the
spray equipment, its capacity, temperature and other local conditions.
® ®
Sigunit -L20 is not compatible with Sigunit -L50 AF / -L52 AF / -L53 AF.
