giant bird. The village chief agreed. The
bird flew to the village and the girls was
ready with her arrow. However, she saw the
bird crying. Then, she placed her arrow on
the land and aksed the bird to land. The bird
landed and she saw a sharp bamboo
attached on its leg. She pulled it up and
healed its wound with leaves herbs.
Since then, the girl and the bird
became friends. The bird also visited the
village to play with the children. The place
where they played became creeks.

One day, he went to the forest to
look for wood, but he could not find any.

In the morning, an old man
suddenly woke him up. The man asked why
he slept there. Yongker told him that he
was lost when he looked for wood.
Then, the old man aksed him to go
to a place near the hut. There were bamboo
trees. The old man knew that yongker was
kind, so he gave him great power. Yongker
had to use it wisely. Then, the old man took
a bamboo and hit Yongker to try the power.
Yongker did not feel pain. After giving the
power, the man and the bamboo trees
disappeared.
Later, Yongker helped people in
need using his power. People named the
place where Yongker met the old man as
Bulu Pamali. Bulu means ‘bamboo’ and
pamali means ‘gone mysteriously’.

dragon bit the tail and died.
Finally, its body slowly changed into
an island and people named it Nusa Island.

Ho Kwan of Kuang Nan was a
kindhearted man and never killed any living
beings. He had a jar containing one thousand
pieces of silver which the kept in a casket.

silver. When his family found out what had
happenend, they traced the ants to a hollow
cave where millions of the them were living.
They thought if they put all of these ants in a

saying, “ I cannot bear to see all these many
creatures killed on account of a small sum of
silver.” So they let the matter drop. That night
he dreamed that he met a king in a palace. The
king thanked him because he saved his people.
Then, the king informed that near his needed

his descendants would reap what he has sown.
When he woke up, he found out that
his dream was the work of the ants. Then, he
dug up the place as told by the king and
recovered a jar buried therein these many
