Finding the Best Animation Software

I have always struggled to look for the best animation software that I can. I am an
independent 3D animator and I can tell you now that there no software on earth is the absolute
best. There are a lot of 3D animation software to choose from and finding out which one is the
right one can take a while.

You might think that I’m lying or that I’m subscribing to the golden mean fallacy by
saying every 3D animation software is just as good as any other. Well you are wrong. While I
will not deny that there is 3D animation software out there that will stand as a cut above the rest,
I also wouldn’t repudiate that there are a lot of bad ones out there.

Finding the greatest animation software is like finding the best tool for the right job. Here
are a couple of tips that can guide you to finding the finest animation software.

The industry knows the best animation software to work with

The thing that most people do not seem to understand about my line of work is that I
don’t just use one single animation software. It’s like what’s happening with Adobe Photoshop.
As long as its photo editing it has to be Photoshop, as long as it’s an mp3 player it has to be an
iPod.

The animation software used for gaming is not the same one people use for movies or TV
shows. Knowing which 3D animation that I will work with depends heavily on what it is exactly
the client actually wants from me.

It has to have a good learning curve

Most people often make the mistake that 3D animation is done by computer and IT
geeks, geek as in people who are really smart and talented, when most people who actually work
on it aren’t. I won’t deny that having a good solid background on computers and IT is helpful but
it is by no means a necessity.

What makes it possible for me, someone who doesn’t have an excellent grasp of
computer and information technology; to work is an easy learning curve. The best software for
animation makes it easy for me to learn how to tinker with my work.

The best animation software are resource intensive

This is where things can get a bit complicated for me. Like I said I’m not computer guy
but I know for a fact that whenever I make high quality animations my computer starts to slow
down as if it was running on coal and steam.

A large majority of some of the finest software I have used in animation relies heavily on
my computer’s specifications. On a side note, there are a lot of websites out there that offer great
tips on what components a person should focus on when they want to make a computer for
animation.

Make sure that it supports the features you need

The very first animation software that I bought a long time ago didn’t support 3D
modeling. I made the simply mistake of thinking every software worked the same way and did
the same things. Some of the features that I look for nowadays are interactive 3D rigging and
complex shading.

When I’m looking for the best animation software I make it a point that it supports the
features that I need.
