What is Patriots Forum?

Patriots Forum’ is a voluntary study-group with representations
from a cross section of the people, including retired civil servants,
army officers, social scientists and other sections of intelligentsia.

It is working with the primary and immediate objective of making

all Indian citizens, irrespective of caste, creed or community,
aware of the ground realities, especially relating to demographic
changes, that the members of the Forum felt will adversely affect
the multicultural, secular and age-old pluralistic society of India as
also the integrity of the Indian civilization as a whole. Inside this issue

New UK Govt. Study: Of all the faiths in the UK, Hindus are the
happiest, scoring well above the national average, according
to data compiled by the Office for National Statistics over the last 4
years in the UK and published a couple of days ago. Religious people
from all different faiths are happier than those who have “no religion”,
official data released on Tuesday revealed.
Christians – of all denominations – were the second happiest, followed
by Sikhs and Buddhists. Those who followed these religions were hap-
pier than the average person, who scored a happiness rating of 7.38
out of 10. On average, Hindus scored a rating of 7.57 for happiness,
followed by Christians at 7.47, Sikhs with 7.45 and Buddhist at
7.41.Happiness amongst Jews fell below the national average, with a
rating of 7.37.
Muslims had the lowest happiness ranking of
the religions listed, with a score of 7.33.Those
who follow “any other religion” came in at
7.26.And people who belonged to “no religion”
were the unhappiest, scoring just 7.22.
The ONS report analysed personal well-being data
for more than 300,000 adults in the UK. The sam-
ples were collected over three years, between 2012
and 2015.
Four areas of a person’s well-being were assessed.
In addition to “happiness”, “life satisfaction”,
“worthwhile” and “anxiety” were also ranked. The
average measure nationally for “life satisfaction”
was 7.5. For “feeling that what you do in life is
worthwhile”, the average was 7.8 and for “anxiety” it was 2.9. http://

It is not surprising to learn about this study that placed Hindus as hap-
piest of all people. We would have been even happier had not those
less happier specimens chose to invade , loot, break the country, in the
process impoverishing and inflicting other ills. Even then mentally and
spiritually Hindus remained stable, hence bounced back. This is so be-
cause of philosophy and understanding of world even among lay peo-
ple of Hindu Dharma is far more superior in that they have no problem
with peaceful coexistence for they see same supreme being in every
creature, in every other human being.
But this is not so for those who chose to divide humanity into believers
vs infidels hence it becomes necessary for them to wage wars , resort
to violence to get rid of large segments of humanity in the name of their
"God ", who is a true God but those others worship were false Gods.
There in is contradiction, tacitly accepting that there are more than one
God but some are true , others are false.
All these conflicts generate unrest , do not allow the 'ineffable peace'
for man to become divine, instead man degenerates, as the history has
shown and current events show, into a beast.

The study also showed so called rationalists are most unhappy. This
also fits very well with their world view and philosophy they subscribe
to. It must be made clear here there are rationalists elsewhere and
there are rationalists in India like Christians elsewhere but converts in
India. You will not find a Christian in any country of the West where
they predominate , holding megaphones addressing unsuspecting
crowds to condemn
everyone else. But
in India you do. The

Rationalists in India specifically fit in this unrepentant group of converts
who usually interchange their labels to suit circumstances. For instance
when aged Swami Laxmananda brutally murdered the converts be-
came Naxalites, you cannot find 'better' rationalists than these fellows.
And when hurling sophisticated garbage against Hinduism in the name
of rationalism, then too converts choose the label of rationalists.
You might have noted the rationalism of India is specifically limited to
find excuses or even manufacture excuses only for derogation of Hin-
duism, apparently their rationalism does not extend beyond that in In-
dia. Communists are now becoming extinct and Naxalites are off
shoots of this rational politicians who prided themselves as 'scientific'
hence used to rig polls in W Bengal scientifically, were worse offenders
in 50s, 60s when it came to abusing Hinduism. Some of their manuals
from those days are still in use by proselytizers. With such sel-hate,
hatred towards their own fellow countrymen with a sublime and spiritual
outlook, how can they lead a happy life?
Hindu characteristically belongs to the category of poetic, philosopher
scientists. In modern era we have Jagadish Chandra Bose who be-
sides radio waves also described communication between trees, he
was a student of Vedanta and philosophy of Upanishads which tell us
about same life force in all beings including trees.
In ancient times we had Kanada who wrote a treatise on building
blocks of universe, the tiniest of tiny called Kana or atoms hence his
name is Kanada and his work can be seen in Vaiseshika, a corollary of
Veda, one of 'Darsanas' out of six.

 Balkanize Pakistan

This commentary is about my observations of Indi-
an scene with various and sundry agents of Paki-
stan running around, providing apologia, digres-
sion and dilution of Pakistan sponsorship for
its continuing attacks on India, are as valid today
as they were in year 710 CE. Before that year, one
can walk all the way from Khyber, Bolan to Kanya-
kumari without seeing a single Mosque, nor meet-
ing a single Moslem in India other than those who
were given shelter by Raja Dahir of Sindh from per-
secution by Caliphs in Baghdad.
It was in that year when 'first Pakistani' Mohd bin
Qasim succeeded in invading Sindh. He lost sever-
al encounters before but he won that time. But sub-
sequently he was chased out of India by Bappa
Rawal. He met a cruel fate in the hands of Abbasid
Caliphate that came to power replac-
ing Ummayads who sent first Pakistani to invade
India because generous, chivalrous Sindh, India
provided shelter to fleeing persecuted Muslims
from the Caliphate. Then 1000 CE, Gazni's forays
took place. Subsequent Mohammedan invasions to
emulate Gazni failed, invading armies were deci-
mated.
Ghori started his invasions attacking Multan , India
in 1175. Attacked Prthviraj Chauhan, lost battle of
Tarain in 1191, he pleaded for his life falling on feet
of Rajput whose chivalry is legendary just as chi-
canery of Ghori. So he attacked again in 1192. He
won! India was never same again since then with
all these 'Pakistanis' running amok from Attock to
Cuttock, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. What was
one thing that is common during the last 1300
years , since first Pakistani to present Pakistani
invasions of India ?
In all the victories enemy scored, he received co-
operation, aid and abetment It does not always
manifest in one fashion , like opening back doors of
a fort or a temple during the night by a traitor- it
happened in Devala where there was a great tem-
ple in Sindh. But there are several nuances-
sabotage, subterfuge, sophisticated garbage being
dumped on unsuspecting society from TV screens,
print media front pages that provide apologia, ex-
cuses , to absolve Pakistan state and government
any role in terror attacks. During recent attack on
Pathankot, the script was strictly followed to uphold
interests of Pakistan by Indian media.
Pakistan has found a successful formula - keep
attacking India and then distance itself blaming it
on non-state actors or indigenous freedom fighters
who are most ingenious in the world for able to
manufacture all the weapons they needed to attack
India all by themselves - not just guns, but rockets,

All kinds of explosive devises, who all the while
operate from Rawalpindi , military cantonment or
from huge terrorist training camps
in Murdike, Multan, all without knowledge of ever
alert Pakistan government.
India can thwart Pakistan designs to continuing
attacks on one hand while asking for parleys to
talk peace on the other. Fortunately world scene
is favourable for India. Even most incorrigible aid
givers to Pakistan are weary of its -bite the hand
that feeds- attitude. Neither an American, not
even a Chinese or theirs companies are safe in
streets or cities of Pakistan.
Sama and Dama were already tried in good
measures; it is now time to try Bheda! Pakistan
never was a state let alone a nation - all the
breast-beating about being Islamic notwithstand-
ing. If Islam is a factor to bring unity, to day Eu-
rope will not be worried about escalating crisis
with Moslem migrants pouring through its porous
borders. How Pakistan treated its own eastern
wing at one time is too well known to repeat. How
it is treating its own people is also easily observa-
ble. Such being the case any efforts by India to
bring about Pakistan's disintegration will be truly
liberating for the people of all faiths there.
Surprisingly the following information came up on
search regarding liberation of Pakistan-the quote
attributed to Mr. Advani. He might have changed
his views now, but his prescription to balkanize
Pakistan to liberate it is still valid. Also his sugges-
tion to bring out historical research from Indian
perspective is an imperative. In the past during
NDA-I reign, a white paper was proposed on the
issue of Pakistan but that never happened! But
this need not be for ever. Even now that task can
be accomplished and given worldwide publicity
that will serve the cause of truth.
Even now Pakistan should hand Islam back to the
Saudis and return to their glorious freedom giv-
ing , women worshipping Hinduism also simulta-
neously thinking of an operation in West Pakistan
aimed at achieving two major objectives to bal-
kanise West Pakistan and to liberate Pakistan-
occupied Kashmir.”
Mr. Advani said in his latest blog post, “I wish
some objective Indian historian does research into
Indian source material and government of India
documents to give the country a version of events
as seen from our side, rather than on the basis
principally of American sources...", he said. http://

Zero Mile in India

It is a stone pillar locating the geographical center of India in the city of Nagpur, Maha-
rashtra. The Zero Mile Stone was erected by the British who used this point to measure
all the distances. The British considered Nagpur as the center of India. Being at the cen-
ters of the country, they also had a plan to make Nagpur the second capital city. The Ze-
ro Mile Stone consists of four horses and a pillar made up of sandstone. Each horse de-
notes a cardinal direction.
The Times of India Group has taken the responsibility to maintain this as a monument
since 2008.

true 'Ram Rajya' in present day Bharatvarsh. With reinforced belief in exerting ourselves to the utmost in achieving

This article is based on research work by Pandit Gyanendra Dev (formerly Maulana Haji Moulvi Ab-
dul Rahman) [English Translations are mine]
Before embracing the Sanatan Dharma, Pandit ji, while still a devout Muslim travelled throughout
Middle East and West Asia from 1925 to 1931. During the course of his journey, he happened to vis-
it the famous Sultan Abdul Hamid library in Jerusalem which houses thousands of pre-Islamic manu-
scripts written and preserved on raw hides written in Arabic, Syrian and Aramaic.
There he found a book called ‘Sayyar-Oukul’ containing pre-Islamic literary history of Arabia. It was
written by ‘Asmai’ who was the court poet of Khalifa Haroon Rashid in 820 A.D. This book is still be-
ing published by West Publishing Company, Palestine and in India it is published and distributed by
Hazi Hamza Shirazi & Co.- Publishers and Booksellers, Bandra Road, Mumbai.

form. When you play the flute, its sweet and melodious music spellbinds your devotees.

O Almighty! Show me but once your divine form in yellow robes holding a flute in your hands, with a
crest adorning your head, and ear rings, seeing which the entire world experiences true bliss.

O Lord, you granted salvation to celestial nymph by the grace of your divine feet and held a moun-
tain on your finger for your devotees and friends, will you keep us devoid of your divine grace?

Seriously? If anything, ancient India is sorely Un-
derrated.
I mean, I’m an ethnic Chinese living in Canada.
But when I was growing up in Canada, I knew jack-
shit about India. Besides maybe curry!
I mean, people here have a vague understanding
of Chinese history but they have NO idea about
Indian history. For example, most people know that
the Middle Kingdom is how China referred to her-
self but how many people know about Bharat?
How many know about even the Guptas? People
know that China was famous for ceramics and tea
but how many people know about ancient India’s
achievements in metallurgy? People k now about
the Great Wall, but how many know about the
great temples of southern India?
This is partly due to the lacklustre historical rec-
ords that ancient Indians kept and also partly be-
cause modern Indians have a tendency to look
down upon their ancient heritage and view western
ideas and ideals as superior. China also has this
problem but not nearly to the same extent.
The discovery that the earth is spherical is credited
to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, who was born in
384 BCE. However, very few people know that a
man from ancient India established the idea of
“spherical earth” during the 8th-9th century BCE.
The man was called Yajnavalkya who first discov-
ered that the earth is round. He was the first to
propose the heliocentric system of the planets. In
his work Shatapatha Brahmana, he proposed that
the earth and the other planets move around the
sun. He also calculated the period of one year as
365.24675 days. This is only 6 minutes longer than
the current established time of
365.24220 days.
Take the example of Kung Fu.
The whole world knows about the
martial art called Kung Fu. The
person who founded Kung Fu was
none other than a prince of the
Pallava Dynasty from Kanchipu-
ram, Tamil Nadu who visited Chi-
na during the 5th century CE. He
became the 28th patriarch of Bud-
dhism and established the Shao-
lin temple and founded the martial
art which became world famous
today. That prince was called Bo-
dhidharma.

But how many people know about that Kung Fu
and Shaolin was founded by an Indian?
Precisely, if Indians are unaware of their heritage,
why should they expect that someone else will
know about their history and achievement?
The achievements of ancient Indians are lost in
obscurity. India’s ancestors had invented many
ways which eased the basic life of a common man.
These inventions may seem primitive today, but
we can’t ignore the fact that these were revolution-
ary achievements during their era.
The Indus Valley civilization is known for the broad
and the sanitized drainage system which was no
less than a miracle during those ancient times. But
how many people know that the ancient Indians
from Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) were the first to
invent a flush toilet?
The people around the world use rulers to meas-
ure everything. How many people know that Indus
Valley Civilization was the first to invent the rulers?
A ruler has been found at Lothal which is 4400
years old. Not only this, the people of IVC were the
first to invent buttons. The ancient Indians were
first to invent the weighing scales. Archaeologists
have discovered weighs and scales from the exca-
vation sites of Harappa, Mohenjo-Daro, Lothal etc.
Ancient India has given Yoga to the world- which is
widely practiced almost all over the world to keep
people fit and fine. Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta and
Bhaskaracharya were the three eminent mathema-
ticians from ancient India who established the con-
cept of zero as a mathematical value in different
eras. Brahmagupta was the first to invent a symbol
for the value “shunya” (zero).
Bhaskaracharya was the first to use it as algebra.
The oldest inscription of zero can be found at the
Chaturbhuj temple in Gwalior fort.

Ancient Indians were pioneers in the field of chem-
istry too. The person who first invented the “atomic
theory” was none other than Acharya Kanad from
ancient India. He explained the atomic theory us-
ing terms like “Anu (atom) and
“Paramanu”(nucleus).
Ancient Indians were advanced in medical science
too. The great physician of the time, Sage Shusrut
was the first to carry out different surgeries which
included plastic surgery and cataract surgery. His
works are composed in his book called Shusrut
Samhita (The works of Shusrut). The world hardly
knows about Charak, the great specialist in medi-
cine from ancient India. He was the first physician
to establish the problems and medicinal treaties in
fields like physiology, embryology, digestion, sexu-
al disease, immunity, etc. His works on Ayurveda
is composed as a book called Charak Samhita
(The works of Charak).
The Chera dynasty of Tamil Nadu invented the
idea of producing finest steel by heating black
magnetite ore along with carbon. The mixture was
kept in a crucible and heated in charcoal furnace.
The Wootz Steel originated from India, but today,
is popular as Damascus Steel.
India’s monuments are grand and are probably,
the only way others recognize the importance of
ancient Indian civilization. India’s gigantic monu-
ments bear the testimony of the greatness of an-
cient India.
This is the Kailash Temple. It is a megalith which
was constructed by cutting out a single rock- a
mountain. The whole mountain was cut from the
top to carve out the temple campus.
This is Dwarka, the grand and mysterious city sub-
merged in the Arabian sea on the extreme west of
India. The submerged heritage is no less than a

treasure bearing the pride of Indian race!
This is Khajuraho, the marvel where the rocks has
taken the form. The best of our monuments are not
built on soft rocks like marble. Our ancestors
carved out even the hardest of the rocks to give it
a beauty.
The grandest and largest temple in India- Bri-
hadeshwara temple. Breathtaking, isn’t it?
India is the land of grandest temples and breath-
taking architectures. The heritage of India can’t be
encapsulated within a small answer! To end the
answer with, I will now share my personal favorite-
The Sun Temple of Konark!
The main structure of the temple was partially de-
stroyed by invaders like Kalapahad- a military gen-
eral of the medieval period. Later, the prime struc-
ture totally collapsed when British stored gunpow-
der inside the structure and it caught fire acci-
dentally.
Even though the main temple is gone, the amount
of what left is still breath-taking by every means.
Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore wrote about
Konark- “here the language of stone surpasses the
language of man.”
The whole temple was designed like a huge chari-
ot of Sun God having 24 wheels pulled by 7 hors-
es. Each wheel had 8 major spokes denoting 1
prahar (Hindu time period of 3 hours). There was a
huge magnet at the top of the temple which used
to keep the idol of the Sun deity suspended in the
air due to magnetic arrangement.
Still think, that ancient India is overrated?
Ancient India was a hub of culture and technology
and the absolute capital of world spirituality.
I could talk about India for hours. India is many
things but overrated is definitely not one of them.
