Ms. Caldwell used creative strategies in her lesson. Her lesson gave students a choice of graphic organizers; provided students lots of
opportunities to collaborate; and had students reflect on their work using a rubric. During our follow-up debrief, we discussed Ms.
Caldwell's goals of improving classroom management and finding her teacher voice; of being clear on her directions and how to
monitor/respond to students who are not clear of her expectations; and providing specific feedback to students. We discussed the
importance of modeling when introducing the rubric, only showing students the proficiency column and making sure to put it in student-
friendly terms.
