According to the 1987 Philippine Constitution, citizens of the Philippines are those
whose fathers or mothers are citizens of the Philippines;

Philippine citizens.
Those born before January 17, 1973, of Filipino mothers, who elect Philippine
citizenship upon reaching the age of majority; and
those whose fathers are foreigners, and then later elected their Philippine citizenship
upon reaching 18 years old in accordance with 1935 Constitution which was in effect

2. How  does Article for Suffrage ensures that majority are given the chance to
choose the best to lead this nation?

Suffrage may be exercised by all citizens of the Philippines, not otherwise

disqualified by law, who are at least 18 years of age and who shall have resided in the
Philippines for at least one year and in the place wherein they propose to vote for at
least 6 months immediately preceding the election.

Every citizen of the Philippines has given the right of suffrage but many are
misleading and not exercising it in the right way. For me, this suffrage is a right that
we need to exercise to make our country a better one and to choose the best for it but
most people disregard and do no pay some attention with this. I think,we must all put
in mind the importance of exercising our suffrage. It is not just an act of selecting or
voting but somehow, again, it is an investment for the future welfare of the nation.
Investment in which aims for an ideal development and lifting of the current situation
of all to a better one. Furthermore, suffrage scopes the concern for all of the citizen
pledging allegiance and dependence to the Mother land.

3.  Do you agree that suffrage is both a privilege and an obligation?

Suffrage is a right of each and every citizen of a state,it is a freedom of an individual

to actively participate in the political decision-making process by choosing between
competing people or ideas without fear or reprisal. The right to vote can view as a
right, as a privilege, or as a duty. As a right, it is conceived of as an inalienable
attribute inherent in the individual. It is might as well an obligation, because as a
citizen of a country or state it is our obligation to keep it better and our right of
suffrage is a way to make it.
