SENTENCES TYPES

There are four types:


-Simple
-Compound
-Complex
-Compound- complex

Phrase
1. SIMPLE SENTENCES
 It is an independent clause which must
contain a subject and a main verb
 It must formulate a complete thought
Gene plays basketball
- Gene plays basketball and plays tennis .
- I play clarinet and I teach clarinet.
- Playing a musical instrument flawlessly
calls for too much time and constancy.

 Simple sentences can have a compound

- My brother and I like apples and eat them

2. COMPOUND SENTENCES

 Two independent clauses


 Two different ideas – two complete
thoughts

There are 3 ways:

COMPOUND COMPLEX SENTENCE


-It is a sentence which has not only two independent clause
which is connected by a relative/subordinate clause. But
most importantly it combines coordinating and
subordinating conjuntions or adjective clauses

-Although I ace the test, the teacher told me to continue


studying because I have some shortcomings; therefore, I
will begin to take some private lessons with a person who is
one of the best math professors.
