To Whom It May Concern:
It is my honor to write a recommendation / reference letter for Robert Rigo. I have had the pleasure to
know and work with Robert for the last two years, and I was also an advising instructional coach for him.
Robert first worked with me as a team teacher when I originally arrived in Colorado and taught secondary
English. In addition, I have worked with Mr. Rigo implementing new systems and practices and we have
attended several professional development opportunities that I have observed him directly apply to his
professional practice. Furthermore, Mr. Rigo is a collaborating teacher I often go to as a model for
observation by other teachers and the instructional leadership team.
Rigo brings to all his school related activities energy, patience, enthusiasm, self-initiated practice and
commitment. This is to be expected in any successful member of a school serving at-risk youth in diverse
populations, and in this regard, Robert fits in well. Be it in the teaching of middle grade or high school
curriculum, the research and modifying of a newly offered elective course curriculum, or the
establishment of best practices with emerging technology, Mr. Rigo consistently delivers high-quality
teaching and modeling of best practices to our campus. This speaks to his overall intellect and ability to
learn, attributes that will serve him well in his graduate study.
While Mr. Rigo is one of three teachers in his department, he has been ever-willing to work with
members of our campus to share his knowledge and expertise, most notably as a resource and co-teacher
for new teachers. He has a deep-rooted spirit of helpfulness that, coupled with his quick grasp of subject
matter, speaks well to his potential as a master of curriculum and instruction.
Robert Rigo is a valued member of our school whom we have learned we can rely on, regardless of the
difficulty of the task to hand or the novelty of the challenge. His combination of intelligence,
commitment, perseverance, creativity, and a compassionate character will certainly make him a valuable
member of any academic program.
I encourage you to look favorably upon his application.

Sincerely,
April Smith

Ms. Smith is my instructional coach and we have been knowing each other for years. Before that I was
co-teaching with her in our literature classroom.
