GUI Testing

What is GUI
1 It is main fact which ensures that the information passing through is in the
appropriate form.
2. It is a part of usability which allows user to interact with web page.
3. It is first impression of user with the site by which user is tempted to look forward.
4. All about how exactly website looks like (view)

Why testing is necessary

As we don’t know user specification
1. Browser specificity as per user requirements(window or mac)
2. Different operating systems
3. Assure that all modules have a consistent look and feel.

What is to be tested?
CONTENT TESTING
Check all the field spelling & grammar
Check for special sign like (! Or @ or commas or?)
Check for upper case or lower case
Check numbering or dots
Any telephone numbers & Dates
Copyright notices

Page appearance
Color, font and size should be as per requirements
Disable field should be in diff color

Frames alignment
Check for distortion in different browser
Check for alignment of header, footer LHS & RHS modules are aligned
Check for fields like text boxes, dropdown boxes & there names aligned perfectly

LINKS: Either in different color or mist be underlined so that can be identified as link

Screen resolution & dpi been taken in to account while using browser, will the UI resize
itself as you maximize/minimize this must be tested with various screen resolutions
Radio buttons Where there are options to choose from, user should be forced to
choose from a set of and the default should be pointing at default message (none, select
one.etc)
Dropdown box Every dropdown box should have the first choice as NONE (it could be
any other meaningful sentence such as ‘Choose one’ or ‘select ’
Horizontal scrolling generally should not be show in maximum position of page
Pagination should be providing when no of page are more than one.
 Location of buttons (OK and Cancel) should be at the right hand bottom side of a
screen and consistent.
Password encryption Clarify whether encryption of the password occurs from your
login page
Popup messages popup messages for Illegal operations should be simple and clear &
as far possible red in colour
Drop down Avoid long scrolling drop down list make it short

As per User requirement

UI testing

1. Sifr text: if client is asked for specific font irrespective of browser setting it should
show same font as required
2. Pixel gaps in between fields as per requirement given in jpg provided
3. Alttxt for images either provided or same as per headings of topic
4. Js disable

Requirement for UI testing as per client’s criteria

1. Documents in word or in excel for content testing
2. Jpeg or Psds for UI
