HOME VALLEY STATION

Home Valley Station is a 248,934 hectare outback oasis, so settle in and discover Australia’s last
frontier.

Once a working cattle station and now a premium tourism destination and Indigenous training facility,
Home Valley is brimming with natural attractions all of which can be experienced from the comfort of the
resort facilities. From the first glance of the famous HV8 Gate to meeting ‘Moo’ our resident cow that
loves a bickie. From live music and delicious food at the Dusty Bar & Grill to hearing the stories of the
Station's heritage or a chance to catch the elusive big barramundi. Home Valley feels like your home
away from home, where everyone is part of the family.

Home Valley Station is managed by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia a subsidiary of the
Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC). The ILSC purchased Home Valley Station on behalf of the
Balanggarra People and Nyaliga People in the East Kimberley, who are the traditional owners. Home
Valley Station managers and staff are responsible for the cultural and business diversification and
provide a viable business future while working with individual traditional owner groups to ensure
sustainable outcomes are achieved which will benefit and respect their culture and way of life.

The Station hosts an onsite training program for Indigenous men and women from the region who are
studying tourism and hospitality. These traineeships make Home Valley a centre of learning where
practical skills are taught in the course of a normal day on the property and they are an integral part of
the resort operation. Trainees live and work alongside the Home Valley team learn through participating
in every aspect of the Station - whether that is housekeeping, food and beverage service or guest
services.

GUESTS
Guests visiting Home Valley Station expect the ultimate Australian Outback experience. Campers and
group travellers are most popular travellers however the Station does cater for those seeking a more
comfortable luxury experience. Both international and domestic guests visit Home Valley.

WEATHER
Located within the Tropic of Capricorn, the Kimberley is a land of extremes throughout the year,
experiencing two distinct seasons, the temperate dry season with its flawless blue skies and cool nights
and the dramatic wet when everything in the country comes alive. Home Valley Station opens each year
throughout the dry season.

WEATHER
DRY SEASON (APRIL TO The start of the dry season is usually still characterised by a lush green
OCTOBER) landscape leftover from the previous wet season, with some of the rivers
and waterholes still flowing. By May/June the water will have begun to
drop, as will the temperatures, which will range between 16-32 degrees.
Clear blue skies are inevitable and the weather is very stable with rain a
rare event. Peak season is between June and August, with stunning
weather during the day, perfect for exploring and slightly cooler nights.
WEST SEASON During the wet season, expect the unexpected. The weather is often hot
(NOVEMBER TO MARCH) and humid with tempestuous storms filled with thunder and magnificent
lightening shows. Rain can fall between 350mm in the south to over
1400mm in the Mitchel Plateau area of the north, often resulting in
significant road closures and limited access. Temperatures also soar,
reaching heights of often over 40 degrees.
