Aerosol Can Micro Leak Detectors for the Water Bath

Alternative.
These high speed Aerosol Can Micro Leak Detectors are designed to be applied as part of a
verified water bath alternative or after a high speed hot water bath. They detect all LPG
propellants, AP70 (C3/C4 blend), iso-pentane, n-pentane, DME and any other hydrocarbon
mixtures, including HFCs like 134A, 152A, 227EA, R134A/R152A-Blend and HCFCs like
142b and others. With 2.0 x 10-3 mbar.l.s.-, which converts to 1x2 mm bubble/sec and
smaller, the detected leakage rates are in full compliance with all existing regulations.

While using only one sensing barrier, the AeroFid family of micro leak detectors avoids
critical and expensive multiple sensing heads for testing up to 250 cans per minute. For up to
500 cans per minute only two sensing barriers are used and the footprint is only slightly
larger. The performance of current hot water-bath systems can be drastically improved by
applying our technology. Leaking cans are automatically rejected by our proprietary
integrated mechanism. All that at a total foot print of only 900 X 900 mm.

Up to 80 cans/min Up to 120 cans/min Up to 250 cans/min

During the past 12 months we have installed 19 machines at different aerosol fillers
throughout the UK. The array of leak detectors currently installed and used spans our 3 basic
versions from up to 80 cans per minute, 120 cans per minute to 250 cans per minute. With the
exception of three machines which are used after the hot water bath for aluminum cans, all
other machines are used in compliance with the hot water bath alternative.

Features and Benefits, Quick Overview:

 Rapid detection of all hydrocarbon propellant gases including HFCs

 1 x 2mm bubble per second detection limit

Up to testing speeds of 250 cans per minute and more our machines are officially verified by
accredited 3rd party testing body to be fully compliant with the ADR 2007 directive and the
BAMA standard.

 Our machines are in continuous use in the Aerosol industry for over 27 years
 Detects micro leaks of 2.0 x 10-3 mbar.l.s.-1 or smaller (1x2mm bubble/sec)
 Very small foot print of 900 X 900 mm
 Our leak testers meet all current international regulations including ADR 2007/ 2009
 Machines run at up to 500 cans per minute with our serial dual head version
 Adjustable micro leak reject threshold for all leak sizes
 Adjustable height adjustment for all available can sizes
 Detector uses high speed single head analyzer
 Used for all types and sizes of aerosol cans in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical
industry, including MDIs
 Detector is not in risk of contamination or poisoning
 No detector cleaning required for a minimum of 12 months
 Machine is easily calibrated in just a few minutes
 Linear response of detection system for all hydrocarbons, CFC and HFA
 Carousel or run through machines available

Here is a summary of compliance available from the Bourgoynes

Verification Report:

 The machines AeroFid-200, AeroFid-100 and AeroFid-60, as supplied by Raupack in the

UK and by Bautz Engineering in Germany and other countries fulfill the requirements of
recent UN/SCTDG/25/INF.93/ FEA regulations and the ADR 2007/ 2009 regulations for
micro leak tester for filled aerosols. The machines are officially certified as the testing
part of Water Bath Alternative method to detect leaks of 2.0 x 10-3 mbar.l.s.-1 of all
hydrocarbon based propellants including all HFA and CFC propellants.., or smaller .
 The machine has sufficient controls in place so as to present minimal risk of explosion.
 Presenting no additional zoning requirement to its environs, and having an internal zone
classified as nonhazardous.
 The machine can be considered as complying with the BAMA standard.
