Cupid and Psyche

Secne 1 psyche house(living room)

Narrator:
A king have three daughter, two of them
posess a common beauty but the beauty of
youngest is way not common to a mere mortal to
posess, because even the beauty of the goddess
of love venus cant compare. Because of this the
people who see psyche are worship her and forget
to praise the goddess of love venus.
Man 1: psyche your beauty is incomparable to
anyone even to the goddess of beauty venus if
you choose me you will get everything you want.
Man 2: psyche your beauty is wonderful if i
choose you will live like a queen to me.
Psyche: forgive me but i dont like any of you i
dont want to live like a queen because i already
have it, if i choose you (pointing out the first
guy) as much as you can give i can experience
with the help of my father. all I want is a man
who can give me and feel what I have never
experienced. sorry (left the living room)
King: sorry for the inconvenience gentleman.
Man 1 &2: it's okay your highness.( bow and
left)
Scene 2 Venus temple
Narrator: because of the unusual beauty that
psyche possesses she is increasingly worshiped
by the people and gradually forgets the goddess
of beauty and love because of this event venus
is angry with psyche and envy her because of
this venus thought of a plan for the return
worshiping her.
Venus: (angry) this is psyche fault because of
her no one will worship me anymore, i need to
think a plan to reclaim my believers.
Venus: Cupid, come here my dear son I have a
command for you. (in melodious tone)
Cupid: what is it mother?
Venus: you see there is a mortal that grabs the
attention of people who should be for me I want
you to make her fallinlove with a scary
creature.
Cupid: sure mother.

Scene 3 room of psyche

King: (knocking the door) psyche can I come
inside?
Psyche: yes father!
King:: are you okay, my dear daughter?(in a
worry tone)
Psyche: no father.(sad tone) you see I do not
like the popularity I am experiencing, because
of this beauty no one really loves me except you
dad, all they want is to shine with my beauty.
King: I see,(sigh) so what do ypu want my dear?
Psyche: i want a man who will love me who i am,
not the man who will love because of my beauty.
King: okay, will travel to the apollo god of
prophecy and ask for advice on what we should
do.(king left room psyche)
Scene 4 cupid meet psyche
Narrator: cupid go to garden of venus and in
garden there are two fountain the white fountain
contain the water of love, while the brown
fountain contain the water of become bitter
cupid went to fountain of love and cupid poured
his two arrows of water from the fountain of
love and went where is psyche is.
Narrator: cupid went to psyche room, cupid is
about to shoot his arrow at psyche but when he
saw the beauty of psyche he did not realize that
he had been wounded by his arrow but without the
wounds he had received he had fallen in love
with psyche the first time he saw it.
Sence 5 apollo temple
Narrator: cupid goes to apollo to ask for help
on how he can get psyche to be his wife
Cupid: Apollo god of music, poetry, light,
prophecy and medic. My mother Venus goddess of
love and beuty want to revenge to a mortal and
she want to fallinlove the mortal to a scary
monster but before i can do what she said i see
the mortal and fallinlove with her. So Im here
to seek help of what should i do to have my
beloved psyche with me.
Apollo: i ha-( apollo sentence cut because of
knocking door)
Tok Tok Tok
Apollo: come in!
King enter the room, cupid saw the king
Cupid: he shouldn't see me I need to hide.
(cupid hide)
Apollo(oracle): what can I do for you?
King: Great Oracle im here to ask for help if
you know what to do with my daughter psyche so I
can fulfill her request.
Apollo (oracle): take her and leave her on the
top of a hill and let a fearful winged serpent,
stronger than the gods themselves, will come to
her and make her his wife.
King: what has my daughter done to deserve this
treachery?
King:thank you god apollo everything you said I
would do.( last bow and left the)

Scene 5 psyche in top of hill

Narrator: king return home and do what the
oracle said. They dressed psyche and take her to
top of a hill and left her with a blanket
covering her. moments later zephyr arrived. and
took her to the cupid mansion's.
(psyche wake up in bed)
Psyche: where am i?
Voices: your awake my lady.
Psyche: where am i? Who are you? And where are
you?(in a confused tone)
Voices: you're here in your mansion, my lady,
and im your servants.
Psyche: (stands feom bed)my mansion? But i dont
have mansion, and where are you?
Voice: im just here my lady.
Psyche: you didnt answer my first question! ( in
a pitch voice).
Voice: your husband mansion, and it's yours my
lady.
Psyche: my husband.(low tone) where is he?
Voice: He comes home every night but my lady you
remember you can never see your huaband face and
do not try to look at it as your husband's
strict will.

Scene 6 the visit

Narrator: psyche keep questionings but no one

are answering until she get tired and fall
asleep. even though there were those who served
her, she still felt lonely because she could not
see it but at night she knew her husband was
coming home and was sleeping beside her.. One
day she was surprised to hear the voice of a man
her husband voice.

Cupid Voice: My dear wife. later your sisiters

will go to the top of the hill where they left
you to mourn the thought that you are dead.
Psyche: my brothers i miss them can i see them?
(in a excited voice)
Cupid voice: No.
Psyche: but why?
Cupid voice:maybe they'll take you away from me
and get away or change your mind to not obey
what I command you.
Psyche: they cant do that. promise after I talk
to them I'll be back here, I'll get back to you
and i promise that whatever they say I will not
believe and I will not obey them.
Cupid voice: okay.
Psyche: thank you!( exited)

Scene 7 the reunion

Narrator: as cupid said, the psyche's sister
went up the hill to mourn, but how surprised
they were to see their psyche alive.
Sister 1: oh psyche we thought you were dead
thanks to the deities and they didn't let you
perish.(in a relief tone)
Sister: true, so how are you my dear sister?
Psyche: im perfectly fine, my husband treat me
like a queen, my house is so beautiful, and have
many servants.
Sister 2: oh really!
Sister 1: so where is your husband?
Psyche: well umh ah hes in the mountain hunting
some beast.
Sister 2: what does your spouse look like?
Psyche: ahm ah i dont know( in a low tone)
Sister 1: poor psyche she didnt even know her
husband look like.
Sister 2: oh no! isn't it true that the oracle
said your wife was a scary monster?
Psyche: maybe not, i dont know.
Sister 1: you know why you don't try (whispered
in psyche's ear).
Sister 2: think about it psyche its for your own
good.
Sister 1 : we should go im sure our husband is
looking for us bye psyche.
Sister 2: take care. Bye
Psyche: bye.(low tone)

Scene 8 the broken trust

Narrator: because of what her sister said there
was a doubt in her mind. She also wondered if
she would follow her sister advice. Later she
had just made up her mind to follow her sisters
advice. In night she hide a small lamp and
dagger under the bed. Later on her huband lay
beside her a fallen into deep sleep.
Psyche: (sigh) shouk i do it?
Narrator: later on she made her mind psyche pick
the lamp and dagger under her bed, after she on
the lamp she walks slowly beside her husband and
to surprise she didnt see a sacry monster but
instead a handsome men that can compete to a
god. Until cupid slowly open his eyes and get up
from bed.
Cupid: you broke you promise!( angry )
Psyche: sorry, im sorry(crying)
Cupid: trust is the most important thing needed
in a relationship without trust in a
relationship it has no purpose.( and went away
leaving psyche crying because of her mistake)

Psyche tried to follow, but she fell to the

ground instead. When she recovered her senses,
she stared about her. She was alone, and the
place was beautiful no longer. Garden and
palace had vanished with Love.
Over mountains and valleys Psyche journeyed
alone until she came to the city where her two
envious sisters lived with the princes whom they
had married. She stayed with them only long
enough to tell the story of her unbelief and its
penalty.

Scene 8 to regain trust

Psyche: sister i need your help. I commit a big

mistake to my husband. (pleading)
Sister: help you! No your the one who commit it
so face your own problem.
Psyche: no you need to help me because in the
first place its you who advice me to do it.
Sister : its not my problem i just advice you
its your choice to do it. (leave psyche behind)
Psyche crying
Psyche stand and start walking to venus temple
Venus: what are you doing here. (angry voice)
Psyche:(kneeling and bow) venus goddess of love
and beauty I know I do not have the right to
show you because of the circumstances I came
here to humble you I would like to ask for your
help so I can be with my wife your daughter
cupid again please I beg.
Venus: I'm going to help you but you have to do
something for me first.
Psyche: really! Im going to do whatever you want
just to be with my cupid again.
Venus: follow me.
venus took the psyche to a room full of
different seeds.
Venus: i want you to separate every seeds, i
want you to finish it until sunsent.
Psyche: I can't do it alone if you can give me
some help in doing this.
Venus: no if you want to be with my son you will
do it alone.
Venus left psyche alone.

Psyche: (sigh) how can i do this alone until

morning.
Ants: if you want we can help you.
Psyche: really you can help me.
Ants: yes.
Narrator: psyche and ants have begun separating
the grains until they are finished. after they
separate the seeds, the ants leave. When venus
came to check if she already separated the seed
venus got shock and become angry because she
could easily accomplish what she wanted him to
do psyche.
Venus: i see its easy for you to do this huh, i want you to go to a river
there are sheep resting there i want you to capture a ship but i want
the with a golden futher.

Psyche went to river and tried to capture the sheep, but the wool is
elusive.

Psyche :(sigh) what should i do the wool is so elusive. (hint of

frustration)

A reed came close to psyche

Reed: do you really want to capture the wool?

Psyche: yes!

Reed: every sunset down the wool rest in that part of river. (point the
right side of river) that is the your only chance to capture the golden
fleece(wool)

Psyche: thank you very much for your help.

psyche returned with the golden fleece when venus saw psyche that
had done her bidding so easily that she immediately thought of a more
difficult task for it.

Venus: well well very good now for the third task i want you to do is fill
this with water came from source of river styx in a cryst vial.

Jupiter saw the hardships that psyche had to suffer, so he sent his eagle
to help psyche.
eagle: do you need help? I can bring the container upthere and fill it
with water coming out of it.

psyche: really thank you.

Psyche return to venus and gave her the container with water inside.

Venus: you see you see because I have lost people who believe in me
lessen my beauty I want you to go to peresphone and say I am asking
for the beauty of her beauty put it in this trunk.

Psyche went to underworld with determination because of thought

that finally she and cupid will be together again.

Persophone: what a lovely guest here what can i do to you.

psyche: venus sent me here she wants to ask for a little of your beauty
to get her beauty back.

Persophone: sure i dont want to go through your ordeal anymore so I

have the trunk for you to come back and cupid with you again.

Psyche: thank you very much.

Narrator: But having got so far successfully through her dangerous task
a longing desire seized her to examine the contents of the box.

Psyche: What,shall I, the carrier of this divine beauty, not take the least
bit to put on my cheeks to appear to more advantage in the eyes of my
beloved husband!(carefully opened the box)

Narrator: but found nothing there of any beauty at all, but an infernal
and truly Stygian sleep, which being thus set free from its prison, took
possession of her, and she fell down in the midst of the road, a sleepy
corpse without sense or motion.
But Cupid, being now recovered from his wound, and not able longer to
bear the absence of his beloved Psyche, slipping through the smallest
crack of the window of his chamber which happened to be left open,
flew to the spot where Psyche lay, and gathering up the sleep from her
body closed it again in the box, and waked Psyche with a light touch of
one of his arrows.

Cupid: Again, you almost perished by the same curiosity. But now
perform exactly the task imposed on you by my mother, and I will take
care of the rest."

Narrator: Then Cupid, as swift as lightning penetrating the heights of

heaven, presented himself before Jupiter with his supplication. Jupiter
lent a favoring ear, and pleaded the cause of the lovers so earnestly
with Venus that he won her consent. On this he sent Mercury to bring
Psyche up to the heavenly assembly, and when she arrived, handing her
a cup of ambrosia, he said, "

Jupiter:Drink this, Psyche, and be immortal; nor shall Cupid ever break
away from the knot in which he is tied, but these nuptials shall be
perpetual."
