Art Teacher
1. How does your role support the school's vision? (Legacy Traditional School’s vision is to
positively impact the education of every student.)
I believe art is positively impacting education by giving students and opportunity to
creatively express themselves, learn to work cooperatively, challenges them to
think  critically (or developing those skills in lower grades) and be able to defend their
observations with factual evidence seen in the artwork.

2. How does your role support the school's mission statement?

Even though art is not an academic class, I support our mission by providing safe
learning enrolment and giving my students a deeper learning opportunity in art.

3. How do you incorporate the mission within your role daily?

I know my art class is thought of as a "safe environment" for students to question and
explore new skills, express feelings and know they are appreciated and loved.  I also
teach more than just "how to draw," my lessons have skills and discussions that are more
advance than some elementary and jr high art classes. I am constantly striving to imbed
standards of concern for each grade level and motivate my students to do their best
work.  I help support involved parents with weekly website information and frequently
submit information and articles to the Quill.

4. How do you incorporate the vision within your role daily?

I strive to treat my students well and with dignity and genuine concern, love
and  compassion.  This helps me positively impact the learning of our students.  I also
think helping to give students a chance to express feelings, identify feelings in others
through art,  and develop empathy is positively impacting learning.  I also work hard to
develop critical learning skills.  Having students analyze art makes them think critically.
Making them create art and apply a process helps in develop logical/orderly thinking
which aids in learning.  The opportunity to work cooperatively also positively impacts
education by developing skills to working cooperatively.

5. How do you promote the school's vision and mission with other stakeholder groups (district

reps or community members)?
It begins with our Specials team.  We work well together to find ways to support each
grade level to promote learning.  We also work together to understand the needs of
unique learners and behavior issues.  Our team also works to promote our school and
students through various music, PE, and Art events throughout the year.  I personally
work with our Community Outreach rep to highlight how our art program supports
out vision.  District level I  work with other art teachers to develop rigor  in our lessons
and promote a district art show each year.

3rd grade Teacher

1. How does your role support the school's vision? (Legacy Traditional School’s vision is to
positively impact the education of every student.)
My role as a teacher at legacy supports our schools’ vision because I am able to be a
positive impact both on my students and with my coworkers.   Having a positive
environment  helps create a safe place for students to learn and for teacher to teach and
for all of us to grow.  By being that positive, engaging, motivated teacher I am able to
create a positive learning atmosphere for my students.

2. How does your role support the school's mission statement?

My role as a teacher supports our schools  mission statement because each day, I work to
help motivate my students to achieve their best and to reach their goals.  I teach an
accelerated curriculum using back to basic methods.  But at the same time making
learning engaging and fun for the students.  We work together to reach our academic
goals.

3. How do you incorporate the mission within your role daily?

Well each Monday we say the mission together as a school.  This helps remind teachers,
students and parents what our ultimate goal is.  I focus on the motivation piece in my
classroom.  I help my students to be motivated in doing their  personal best.  This is done
by modeling that motivation for them.  I am also creating a safe place where teachers,
students, and parents can work together to create a successful academic career for all. I
also find new ways to challenge my students and make them think deeper.

4. How do you incorporate the vision within your role daily?

My classroom focuses on positivity.  I use positive discipline by praising those that are
doing their very best both in academics and behaviorally.   This helps create positive
atmosphere and students know they will gain good attention for things they work hard
for.  It also creates respect between the students and teachers.  They see that you care
for them.  I also make an effort to really get to know my students.  I want to know what
they like, what they don't like, what are their goals, what stresses them out, what makes
them happy. Getting to know your students allows for them to know that you care.  It also
creates a safe place away from home.

5. How do you promote the school's vision and mission with other stakeholder groups (district

reps or community members)?
I share my schools’ mission and vision with family and friends all the time.  I encourage
families to check out our school and encourage friends that are teachers to check out job
opportunities  with us as well.

Kindergarten Teacher
1. How does your role support the school's vision? (Legacy Traditional School’s vision is to
positively impact the education of every student.)
Being a teacher of the youngest students at Legacy, my goal is to make them comfortable
with school and create an environment that makes them feel excited to learn new things. I
also strive to show them that while not everybody in our classroom is good at everything,
everyone is good at something. Often times the littles will shut down when they don’t
understand, but by creating a safe learning environment, we work together to help one
another when we are struggling.

2. How does your role support the school's mission statement?

Piece by Piece.
Motivated Learners: being with the youngest students that are just starting out, I work
daily to create motivation and a love for learning among my students.

Accelerated, Back to Basics, Safe Learning Environment: while we do move quickly

through academic material, I also strive to create a safe learning environment where my
students know it is okay to ask questions and to ask for help.

Caring, Knowledgeable, & Highly Effective Educators: We do a morning thumbs up,

down, or to the side as a visual to show how we’re feeling when we enter the classroom
so I can make a point to check in with those students who are not quite up to par. My
students know I care about them each day and they can approach me at any time. I
currently hold a master’s degree in education and am returning for my doctorate in
January.

3. How do you incorporate the mission within your role daily?

I incorporate our mission  daily by creating a safe, caring environment where my
students are excited to learn and comfortable asking questions when they need too.

4. How do you incorporate the vision within your role daily?

I incorporate the vision  on a daily basis by encouraging my students to learn new things
and explore their interests. I give them multiple ways to learn material when they are
struggling and create a safe environment for them to ask for help.

5. How do you promote the school's vision and mission with other stakeholder groups (district

reps or community members)?
When other adults enter my classroom or see my students in the hall, at specials, etc... I
hope that they see my students are comfortable asking questions, are excited to complete
their studies and to go above and beyond, as well as have the motivation to pursue their
own interests. I also hope that they see the amount of passion and care I have for my
students.
