In my understanding the process of the consumer buying decision consists of

5 main stages. For this assesment i will briefly explain the stages according
to the experiences that i have been through. So recently my mother Puan
June, decided to buy a birthday cake for a family celebration. This is when the
first step in buyer decision process happened that is the identification of
problem or need recognition. problem or needs happened unexpectedly, it
depends on the person internal or external stimuli. In my condition, it is
considered as a need recognition.

The second stages are information search that is related to the needs. We


discussed and pop up some question such as what kind of cake, what flavour
should we choose, what shape does it have to be, do we need to write
something on it and lastly the decoration type. All of this question helps the
process of buying to be easier as it enables us to know the characteristic of
product that Puan June are actually trying to reach for. After the discussion
ends, Puan June came to conclude that she wanted to buy a cheesecake with
lots and lots of cream cheese. The process of choosing a source are also
include in this process. we listed a few bakery stores that might provide the
product.

The third stage is the evaluation alternatives process. The needs have been
identified and the information about the product is in the hand. This part focus
more on the alternative that can be use on how to get the product in hand.
The condition of surrounding is also one of the factors that might need to be
considered of. Evaluating process can be done by reading at the feedbacks
that community gave about the source, Comparison of product, knowing the
distance or location of shop, and also services-provided from source. All these
points help a lot in the process of choosing.

Next up is the purchased decision process. After all evaluation process is


done, Puan June have decided to choose Home-baked Bakery because of the
good review factor that she found on the Facebook page owned by the bakery
shop itself. Plus, the location of the bakery is nearby and they provide COD
Services. Puan June contacted the bakery shop and ordering process were
made.

Last but not least the final section in buyer-decision process is the Post-
purchased Decision. This is the stage where evaluate of satisfaction of
choices is made. After the cake has been deliver Puan June are quite
satisfied with the decision and choosing that she have made. She definitely
have that “ My decision is right” thoughts.
