Step-by- Step Directions:

❏ Create a T-Chart and label each box with the appropriate headings:
Origin, Meaning, POV paragraph, Graphic, Assertion, GIST
❏ Research key ideas about your name’s etymology (origin) using credible sources such as:

❏ Read and skim reliable online or printed sources to collect key ideas about your name’s unique
etymology over time periods
❏ Evaluate the key ideas you want to include in your GSP and jot them down
(google slides presentation- see slides layout below)
❏ Determine whether you will paraphrase (put ideas into your own words) or quote the key ideas
(remember to include quotation marks around ideas taken directly from the text to give the author
credit for his words)
❏ Record (write down) your key ideas and facts using a systematic note-taking system like the below
