Attach 1 - Bridge Welding of Seal Welded & Socket Welded Valves on Process Lines (AB-036521 Sh 1)

Attachment 2 - Seal Welding Application Checklist (SAES-L-110 Limitations)

8 Seal Welding of Threaded Joints
8.1 Seal welding of threaded joints is required when deemed necessary by the Operating Organization for
those locations & services where an uncontrolled leakage would result in serious consequences for the operation or
safety of plant and personnel. THIS REQUIRES CLEAR AGREEMENT* AT THE BEGINNING OF PROJECTS.
THIS IS A TASK FOR INSPECTION UNDERSTANDING & CLARIFICATION AT THE OUTSET OF PROJECTS.
Note: A Letter should be addressed to Company early on in projects (attach this checklist to the letter) &
request clear direction from Proponent regarding specifics. This shall then be made part of project specs.
Note: Where application is not "clearly" covered by 8.2 & 8.3 below, Proponent may require seal welding.
8.2 Seal welding of all threaded joints up to the first block valve is required in the following services and applications:
a) All hydrocarbons.
b) Boiler feed water, condensate, and steam systems utilizing ASME Class 300 and higher flange ratings.
c) Toxic materials such as chlorine, phenol, hydrogen sulphide, etc.
