The first chart is full of different criteria for the students and also criteria for evaluating the
technology used for the unit. The teacher candidate will be answering these questions in the
second chart that are specific to each student in the classroom. The students will get the teacher
candidates feedback about the Google Doc and if they are using the information correctly and
reading what they are putting into the doc. The students will be using the Google Doc to store
information for later on in the unit when they are compiling their information into the writing
prompt for the summative assessment.
Descriptive Checklist for the Farmer’s Market:

Yes No

Do the students have

background information
about farmer’s markets?

Are the products in

season?

Are the products priced

fairly based on research?

Did the students

collaborate together on
research and building the
market?

Did the students use their

farmer’s market
vocabulary cards?

Are students keeping track

of their information?
The teacher candidate will be using this descriptive checklist when observing the students’

working together on their classroom farmer’s market to ensure that they are working together

and using their knowledge to best build their market. The information that they gather from this

activity will be used in their writing prompts so the teacher candidate wants to make sure that

they are taking this seriously and using their time wisely to find new information and use their

research to properly write a prompt.

Rating Scale for Rough Draft:

My packet is organized, and the pages are

in the correct order.

I have at least 4 facts about gardens in my

packet.
I used transition words and my
vocabulary words in my writing.

The words that I know are spelled

correctly.

I used correct punctuation and capitalized

words.

My writing about the classroom farmer’s

market is clear and makes sense.
The teacher candidate will be using this checklist when grading the students rough draft packets.

The points in the checklist are important since the writing piece is informative, and the students’

needs to be able to understand that their facts need to be clear and organized so that a reader

could understand what they are writing about and why. When the students get their packet and

this checklist back, they will use this information when writing their final draft packets. This will

help guide the students learn just how to write an informative piece.
