Out of a total of 7479 contacts traced (these are individuals who were in contact with
people who tested positive for COVID-19); 2975 people have completed the 14 days
monitoring period with no symptoms reported and therefore they are de-isolated.
There are currently 46 people hospitalized in the both public and private facilities.
There are currently 28 Gauteng Health Employees that have tested positive. All cases
are mild and did not require hospitalization, except for one person who had to be
hospitalized. The said person was discharged on Friday, 17 April 2020. The first cohort
of workers that tested positive contracted the virus thorough social circles and not in the
workplace.
There has been a number of recoveries so far. Eleven people have recovered and most
are back at work. The rest of the employees are being monitored.
The Occupational Health team is working closely with facilities to lend the necessary
support.
The process of disinfection continues to take place at various facilities across the
province. The Gauteng Department of Health currently has sufficient PPE supply and are
continuously procuring, and replenishing stock.
