Lesson Plan Title: LOG ON/OFF

Required time: 1-45 min. period

Performance Objective:
By the end of this lesson the students should be able to:
1) Knowledge:
• Log On and Log Off
• What is represented by the different open windows
• Understand how to get into the program
2) Skills:
• Develop the ability to successfully log on and off
• Navigate purposefully through the various menus

Preparation:
Copies: Teacher created handouts, Rubric, Instructions on correct method of logging on to the
network and computers with internet access.

Activities:
1. Do Now: prior to class place copies of handouts on desk for each student. Assign students
to computer stations alphabetically.
2. During the first five minutes have students respond to the following question (written on
the board prior to class):
• How many programs do you know?
• Have you ever heard of a pattern design program?
• If yes, which one?
Have students respond in their note books.
3. As a class, review the days’ exercise for any misconception.
4. Demonstrate how students should enter their log-on information.
5. Give students time to enter their information before moving on to the next step.
6. Tell students that their final objective is to be able to log on to their individual stations
each day.
7. After the discussion, demonstration and explaining the sequence of the required steps
have students complete the required paper work for the class.

Summary:
In keeping with the overall goal of this course, students need to make connections between their
knowledge and practical expectations when they apply for higher education or go out in the
world of work. Gaining an understanding of the technological tools used companies today, help
the student to better transfer and apply their knowledge in creating their own designs based on
these invaluable tools. Another goal is critical thinking and understanding value which asks the
student to form opinions about specific content.

Visual/Spatial Intelligence which is the ability to perceive the visual.
Interpersonal Intelligence is the ability to relate and understand others.
