JOURNAL ANALYSIS

1. Theory
Insulin treatment carries the risk of hypoglycemia according to the International
Diabetes Federation and Salti I, Be'nard E, Detournay B, Bianchi-Biscay M, Le Brigand
C, Voinet C, et al
2. Method
Using qualitative, quantitative and survey methods
3. Participant
Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are fasting during the month of
Ramadan
4. Data source
Sources of data obtained from graphs obtained in the study
5. Procedure
This target therapy is carried out before, during and after Ramadan in patients
with T2DM in 27 locations in Algeria, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, and South Africa on 4
January 2016-5 September 2016, with Ramadan taking place between 6 June 2016 and 5
July 2016 .
The total duration of the trial is between 22 and 34 weeks and patients exposed to
the trial drug are between 16 and 28 weeks. After a 2 week screening period, initiation of
treatment with IDegAsp BID ± OADs or BIAsp BID ± OADs for periods between 8 and
20 weeks is institutionalized, depending on how long before Ramadhan patients were
randomized (a minimum of 8 weeks of initiation of treatment to ensure sufficient time to
effectively titrate the trial product before the start of Ramadan).
On the first day of Ramadan (sahur), the insulin dose is reduced by 30-50% based
on the algorithm described in detail below.
At the end of the 4-week Ramadan period, the dose is adjusted back to pre-
Ramadan levels and the patient is observed for 4 weeks (the post-Ramadan period) to
evaluate the endurance of glycemic control during the post-Ramadan party (Eid
celebration).
6. Strengths and weaknesses of research
a. Journal weaknesses
It does not explain specifically about Diabetes Militus and Hypoglycemia, and
does not compare between humans who are not affected by Diabetes Militus and
humans who are affected by Diabetes Militus but only compares Diabetes Militus.
b. Journal Strengths
There are no advantages in this journal.
7. If I want to do the same research? then I will conduct research to compare between
patients affected by Diabetes Militus with normal people who are not affected by
Diabetes Militus, in given insulin during and after Ramadan.
