Dear Parents & Students,

I hope that you are all staying safe during this

time. I know that times are scary and confusing

right now. It is our job as a class to work as a

team. While we cannot go to school on campus, we

can still continue learning at home!

This site will help give you some tips and ideas on

how to fill your days with lots of learning and

thinking! On the Home Learning Schedule page,

you will see a schedule for each week. There you

will see the suggested time allotments for reading,

writing, math, social studies, science, and special

areas (music, P.E., and art). Please just do your

best to spend at least a couple of hours per day

completing your school activities.

Under the More tab on this website, you will find a

variety of activity suggestions for all the subject

areas listed on the daily schedule.

There are two educational sites that are offering

free access through the end of the school year. For

reading, I would like to introduce Raz-Kids. This is

a great online resource, which provides leveled

readers that your child can read. There is the

option to listen to the story, read the story, and

answer comprehension questions afterwards.

While your child reads, I urge you to click the

microphone in the upper right-hand corner, which

will allow you to record your child as they read and

allows me to listen to their reading as well. You

can access Raz-Kids at https://www.raz-kids.com/.

You will see that I have incorporated Raz-Kids into

the weekly schedule. If access to internet or

technology is limited at home, I recommend

completing two reading bingo activities per day

instead. See the Reading at Home tab for more

information.

The second website I would like to introduce is

Happy Numbers, which is an online math resource.

This is a great online tool for your child. Once you

sign up, the site will have your child take an

assessment. This will ensure that the math content

your child is introduced to is level-appropriate for

them. The site includes games and video lessons

that correspond with your child’s unique math

needs. You can access the site at

https://happynumbers.com/. You will see this

incorporated into the home learning schedule as

well. Again, if access to internet or technology is

limited, please see the Math Time tab for daily

math activity ideas.

In addition, I have provided a tab which will list

some educational sites and apps that you can have

your child use throughout the day. These sites are

not mandatory and are simply a suggestion if you

would like to make screen-time a little more

meaningful.

Please just do your best! I know that times are

stressful and uncertain. Many parents are working

from home while also having to work with their

children. Please feel free to e-mail me or call me if

you have any questions or concerns regarding our

new at-home learning.

Stay safe and have fun!
