Introduction
Welcome to the Fundamentals and Practice of Planning!
This is one of the core courses under the Diploma in Land Use Planning (DLUP) Program.
The course introduces you to the concepts and theories of human settlements growth and
development; history, principles, theories and practice of planning.
The Course Guide is attached below. For the course materials, you can also gather relevant
materials from useful websites.
The FICs for P201 are Proscoro Ervin Mundo, PhD and EnP Jonathan John G. Maldupana,
REC. You can use the course site to communicate with us for clarifications regarding
assignments, examinations and other requirements. Any message that you will post in the
course site will be automatically sent to our email addresses,
proscoroervin.mundo@upou.edu.ph and jonathanjohn.maldupana@upou.edu.ph.
For all communications, please indicate in the subject your course number (P201-A) followed
by the topic (eg. Clarification: Module 1).

Self-Introduction
Dr. Proscoro Ervin Mundo is an Urban and Regional Planner and an Environment and
Natural Resources Planning Specialist. He finished his master's and doctoral degree in
Urban and Regional Planning at the University of the Philippines School of Urban and
Regional Planning (UP SURP) and received his diploma in Urban and Regional Planning in
UP Visayas. He is also a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and
Bachelor and Master of Science in Management. Presently, he works as a Senior Technical
Consultant at Mundo and Associates Consultancy, Inc.
EnP Jonathan John G. Maldupana serves as the Co-FIC for this course. He is a licensed
Environmental Planner (Top 9 in the 2018 exam) and a Real Estate Consultant (Top 1 in the
2018 exam). EnP Maldupana graduated from the Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning
program from UP Diliman in 2017, the Diploma in Land Valuation and Management from
UPOU in 2015, and the Diploma in Real Estate Management from De La Salle - College of
Saint Benilde in 2015. He is currently working on his MBA. Through his own firm, he currently
works with developers, cities, and municipalities in the preparation of their master plans,
CLUPs, and other plans.
