2/28/2019 Siemens Documentation: Model view property attributes in Teamcenter

Model view property attributes in Teamcenter

When a part with model views designated for publishing is saved in a managed mode, Model View Proxy objects are created in Teamcenter for each designated model view in the
model. The Model View Proxy object references the designated model view and synchronizes the Disclosure Purpose attribute with the appropriate proxy object property.

If the name of the Disclosure Purpose attribute cannot be mapped to the appropriate property of the Model View Proxy object, the import of the part will fail.
If the name of the Disclosure Purpose attribute can be mapped, but a value has been specified which is not valid for the corresponding property on a Model View Proxy object, the
import of the part will fail.
Once the part and its JT data is successfully loaded into Teamcenter, you can use the Teamcenter lifecycle visualization tool to publish and manage the designated model views.

Preferences and customer defaults for disclosure attributes

Options in the PMI Preferences dialog box and the Customer Default dialog box let you control the following:
The default setting for the Publish for Disclosure attribute for model views you add to the part.
The default setting for the Publish for Disclosure attribute for canned model views (customer default only).
The default text string for the Disclosure Purpose attribute, which is automatically applied to any model view with a Publish for Disclosure attribute set to True.
These default settings only apply to new model views and do not affect the attribute settings for existing model views.

Note When you use a Blank template to create a new part, the disclosure attributes for the canned views are set based on the customer defaults.
If you use any other template to create a new part, the canned views are not affected by the default setting because they are not created as new model views. If you want the
disclosure attributes set for canned views in a new part created from a template, you must set the disclosure attributes in the template.

Publish Technical Data Package

Use the Publish Technical Data Package command to publish a technical data package (TDP) to a PDF directly from an NX source part.
A TDP is a collection of one or more files or documents that contain all the information necessary to define a product and its requirements. You can use TDPs to communicate and
collaborate internally and with suppliers.
When you publish a TDP, you can:
Attach other file types, such as Excel files, which reviewers can then open directly from the output PDF.
Protect the output PDF by prompting for a password upon opening.
Enter text, such as a note or description, if you use a TDP template that contains custom text fields.

This video demonstrates how to publish a TDP using a 3D PDF template.

Selecting a 3D PDF method

You can publish a TDP to a 3D PDF or a JT plus PDF.
A 3D PDF can contain a representation of the active displayed part (in PRC format), model views, PMI, images, text, tables, and any other objects as defined in the selected template.
A JT plus PDF can contain all the TDP information exported to a PDF, including attachments and the objects defined in the TDP template used. It also contains a JT file of the active
displayed part.
You can create templates for both 3D PDF and JT plus PDF TDPs. Templates must be placed in the directory specified by the Template Libraries customer default. When you publish
a TDP, only the templates associated with the type of data package you want to create is available for selection in the Publish Technical Data Package dialog box.

Note A JTplusPDF.config file is available in the tdp folder of your NX installation directory. You can edit this default configuration file to set options that control how JT files are
written when publishing a TDP using the JT plus PDF type, and to specify different options and values to customize the JT output.

If you cannot switch between or rotate model views in the output PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, choose Edit tab→Preferences, select the 3D & Multimedia category, and then
select the Enable playing of 3D content check box.

2/28/2019 Siemens Documentation: Publishing model views

Publishing model views

After creating and arranging PMI in model views in your model or assembly, you may want to limit which views can be used during design reviews, planning processes, or other official
types of collaboration with customers or suppliers. In other words, you may want to limit which model views are published for use by others.

In NX there are two model view property attributes that let you indicate which model views may be used for collaboration, and for what purpose.
The Publish for Disclosure model view property attribute lets you designate which model view in your part or assembly can be published for use
The Disclosure Purpose model view property attribute lets you identify the purpose for disclosing the model view. For example, the purpose can be for a customer product review,
for an intern design review, or for a manufacturing process review.

You can individually set these attributes for each model view, or you can select one or more model views and collectively set their attributes using a bulk edit method.
Once these attributes are set, they can be referenced by other applications, such as Lifecycle Visualization, to manage which views are presented during a review process. See
Working with model views in the Lifecycle Visualization Help for more information.

Model view attribute columns in the Part Navigator

The Publish for Disclosure column and the Disclosure Purpose column in the Part Navigator let you determine the status of the property attributes for each model view. By default,
these columns are not visible in the Part Navigator. To see them you must manually add them.

Technical Data Package Template

Use the New Template command to start the Technical Data Package environment and create templates to use when you publish a technical data package (TDP) for an NX part to a
3D PDF or JT plus PDF.

In the Technical Data Package environment, you can create a TDP template from a blank file or from an existing template. You can add and edit objects in the template using TDP-
specific commands.

Defining a TDP template

You can add and edit the following in your TDP template:
One or more page with specific sizes, orientations, page names, and page numbers.
Template properties, such as the TDP type, presentation name, and a description for the file that applies to all the template pages. The template properties you set are stored in the
files and no PAX files are used.
Placeholder objects, including:
Viewports, which are embedded 3D viewing windows that can display a 3D model.

(3D PDF only) View carousels that let reviewers browse through the available 3D model views in the output PDF.

Rectangles that can represent a frame or border.

Text.
Static text that appears as is whenever the template is used.
User Defined placeholder text that can be replaced before publishing.
Controlled text that is later replaced based on a list of options you define in the template.
PDF form fields with custom labels.

Tables, including:
General tables whose cells can contain supported text types.
Automatic tables whose contents are automatically defined as BOM, PMI, or View (JT plus PDF only) based on the work part at the time you publish the TDP.
Resizable raster images with a lock aspect ratio option.
