A Reflection from the fable “Hope for the Flowers”

We humans are born with nothing but our souls. However, in this world full of tempting

and seductive things we always wanted to be satisfied. We are not contented of a particular

things that we hold on. The same with real life scenario, we want to gain success, we want to

find love and we want to reach the top but the saddest thing about this is that we are sometimes

doing it in a bad way that sometimes we don’t realize that we are already hurting other people. In

line with the fable “Hope for the Flowers” are lots of real life situations are connected and I think

I am one of the character.

There are two main characters in the fable, Stripe Caterpillar and Yellow Caterpillar. Of

course, they are the same creature but has a big difference in attitude, character and perception in

life and I can really see myself reflecting on yellow caterpillar. I admit that aside from being like

a caterpillar I am also like a flower that is not yet fully bloomed. Also, like yellow, I am a person

who’s always afraid of showing up my abilities and more skeptic on what I can do, fear always

leads me. The reason for this is that I am afraid of being judge and second is I’m easily contented

of what I’ve got. I have a lot of principles in life but I cannot stand on it alone because I’m

affected with the beliefs of others. Just like yellow, she/he need someone who has a strong belief

in his/her own principle that can convince her/him. Also, I’m opposite to stripe because I am the

person who hate on competing with others. I told myself that competition is not my nature and I

don’t want to achieve something if I can hurt someone that’s why I become contented of what I

get at least I hurt someone.

For me, I don’t have to chase money, success and love because all those things will come

to you if you will be true to yourself. Just be who you are and those things will come after you.

For me, I don’t need be somebody else for satisfaction and being who am I today is enough

because that’s how God created me. I was born with nothing and achieving a little thing is

enough for me and I don’t need a competition in life.

Therefore, an individual like me is compared to a yellow caterpillar. I know that there is

more to life but we also need to value the life of others as we value ours. I don’t need a

competition or a race for living and I don’t need to harm or hurt others just to survive that’s why

it’s ok for me to live as is. No need for farther discoveries and kill curiosities.
