Thanks to the advent of the Internet, online shopping has become a popular
phenomenon over the past few years. Obviously, this trend will greatly affect our
environment and the kinds of job required.

It is undeniable that online shopping brings both benefits and risks to our
environment. On one hand, online shopping enables customers to purchase
essential things easily without driving to groceries stores or supermarkets.
Consequently, it helps decrease the use of vehicles such as motorbikes or cars,
which is able to reduce pollutions as well as traffic congestions in life. On the other
hand, due to the increase of online shopping, there has been a great demand for
packaging recently. Therefore, it increases the numbers of trees cut to produce
paper for packaging.

Besides, this new shopping method also makes enormous impacts on the kinds of
jobs required in society. Because customers can buy things online, they no longer
have to visit the store and this results in the reduction in the number of shop
assistants, waiters and waitresses, which will lead to the increasingly
unemployment rate. However, it is obvious that thanks to online shopping, people
are offered more job vacancies, especially in the field of delivery. In addition to
that, there will be great demand for employees who are adept at IT such as cyber
police, web designers so as to help enhance the profits of shops and stores.

In conclusion, it is apparent that online shopping has both positive and negative
impacts on our environment as well as the kinds of job required these days. As a
result, this shopping method should be encouraged and controlled suitably to
benefit human’s life in various aspects.
