POWER OF LANGUAGE 2

The Power of Language

Language, as we know, it is a method of communication for some, and others use sign

language to communicate. Language itself is powerful, we can express our feelings, and we use

language to give meanings for things. Language is a critical skill that we usually learn as

children. It is essential for us as educators to know how to teach this so that our students can be

prepared to go into the 21st century feeling confident in knowing what the power of language is,

how to apply it in the following: careers, spiritual, citizenship, and personal lives.

Traditional learning has changed dramatically. We have introduced chrome books, and

with the latest COVID-19 pandemic, we have all turned to 21st-century learning. Everything is

taught online, homework, and physical education are also taught via the internet. In using an

online forum for education, students can think critically, problem-solve, and they can

communicate via the internet. They can also collaborate with other students; these are the basic

building blocks of 21st-century learning. ("Education for a Changing World," 2020). Over the

last few years, teachers have been using chrome books in their classrooms, which has proven to

be beneficial, especially in our current situation. Our economy thrives on creativity and

innovation; children have endless resources online that help encourage the development of their

innovative and creative abilities.

Language is a critical skill that well-educated children must learn. "It involves

understanding reputable sources and how to present information in a convincing, convicting, and

context-appropriate fashion." (State, 2020) These skills can be attained through the study of

language. The ability to think critically and present information appropriately plays an essential

role in the future of our students. They will need to know how to communicate effectively, write

reports, present stuff for work, and, most importantly, speak effectively. Students need to

understand their first language as well as the subsequent languages that they have acquired. In

our class, we have studied the process of learning language. Phonology, morphology, syntax,

semantics, and pragmatics are the foundation that a child needs in order to develop critical

language skills that will benefit them in the future.

As an Educator, I plan to prepare my student's language skills in the 21st century by

allowing them to collaborate creatively. There are several ways in which this can be encouraged.

I will let the students lead the learning while offering inspiration and guiding the students to sites

where they can discover things themselves. Preparing the students will allow them to be self-

learners, and it is a skill that they will carry the rest of their lives. This will also keep them

engaged because it will be up to them to present information that they have found. I remember

working on group projects when I was in grade school. We were excited to present on our

designated day, and I now realize how proud we all were about our finished product, whether it

be a science or history project.

The ethical and spiritual implications of language study is directly related to preparing

our students for 21st century citizenship. Spiritually they will have the freedom to explore beliefs,

respect other faiths, and to learn about oneself as well as others around the world. I am aware

that we must be careful with religion in a classroom setting, allowing them to reflect on their

own traditions well help others in the class learn about the different feelings and values that

people have. Concerning ethics, I believe that knowing their boundaries, recognizing right from

wrong, and developing the ability to understand and appreciate other people's viewpoints will

help children throughout their lives.

In conclusion, the power of language itself is powerful, we use language to express our

feelings, and we use language to give meaning to different things throughout our lives. As

educators, I believe that we are lifelong learners. We have to continue to learn about new

learning programs, and we must keep up with technology. Staying up to date with the new

programs and technology can help us educate our students and ensure that they will be ready for

21st-century learning as they go to middle and high school. The power of language has opened

my eyes in many ways. I have learned so much about literacy that I did not know before.

Language and knowing how to use it is truly powerful in so many ways.
