The ThreeLeaf T200k is a combination laptop cooler and angled

and also rather unnecessary. The cooler boasts four 80mm fans,
and a 120mm spinner in the centre, all powered by a USB. You have a
speed controller for the fans that’s linked to the illumination control,
and one touch of a button can make the fans faster, louder and
brighter, or slower and dimmer as you like.
That’s all good, but as a laptop stand, the T200K feels flimsy and it
doesn’t anchor too well to the surface to which it’s attached, making
it work better in the flat position. Ultimately, it amounts to a cheap
way to put a lot of glowing fans under a laptop, which can be good for
a thin and light gaming laptop that gets too hot, and you get a lot of
cooling for the money. It’s just a shame the stand itself isn’t better.

One company that definitely

been branching out, with guides

NEWS IN BRIEF
Nvidia Slashes JetsonTX1 price
Nvidia’s Jetson TX1 single-board computer (SBC)
was an interesting follow-up to the original Jetson
TK1 (see Issue 133), but with a price-tag that put it
well beyond the reach of most hobbyists: $499 US
(around £385 ex tax). The Jetson TX1 SE aims to fix
that problem, slashing the cost to $199 US (around £154 ex tax) by dropping the bundled
camera module. Available exclusively in the USA at the time of writing, the Jetson TX1
includes the same 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 CPU and 256-core Maxwell GPU
The kit is based around an ATmega8
microcontroller, which holds the seemingly as its more expensive predecessor.
