HOW DO PLANTS MAKE FOOD?

Plants make their own food in their leaves. They do not get food from the
soil or from water. The leaves can make food for the plant because they
are green.

The green chemical in a leaf is called CHOROPHYLL. Plants make food in

a process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS. It can take place slowly or quickly.
It depends on the temperature of the air. Photosynthesis take place more
quickly when it is warm.

A. Read the statement and write if it True (T) or False (F).

1. Plants get from the soil. __________

2. Plants make food in their own leaves. __________

3. Water gives the plant the food it needs. __________

4. To make food the plant needs oxygen. __________

5. Chlorophyll is green. __________

6. The speed of photosynthesis is always the same in a leaf. __________

7. Photosynthesis make chlorophyll. __________

8. Sunlight is needed for photosynthesis. __________

9. Plants breathe carbon dioxide just like we breathe oxygen. __________

10. Photosynthesis is responsible for the world's oxygen supply which is needed for animals to survive.
