Dry Temper Setup

Overview
Dry Temper is water added to a batch after all materials are loaded into the
truck. Dry Temper is recorded when the Load Complete Button is pressed on
the Manual Station. The Load Complete button must be pressed on the
Manual Station before a load can complete even if Dry Temper was not used.

Required Parts
The following parts are required to install Dry Temper:

(1) Output Module P/N 22829 for 120V systems

P/N 22831 for 240V systems
(1) Input Module P/N 22828 for 120V systems
P/N 22830 for 240V systems
(1) LED Display P/N 21869
(2) IO locations on Manual (1) Dry Temper Feed
Station (1) Load (Slump) Complete
(1) 240V MOV P/N 23800
Required for 240V systems only

Dry Temper Setup

1. Add an LED Display to the manual station.

2. Configure the display for Dry Temper. (Refer to the E-Z Cal
Installation & Operation Guide for setup/calibration details.)

3. Wire Dry Temper Feed and Pulse. Refer to the plant wiring
diagrams for Temper Wiring. If the IO points referenced on the

wiring diagrams are not available, different IO points may be
used.

CAUTION!
Be sure J-Box Plant Power is off before making wiring
changes!

4. Install the input and output modules in the J-Box according to the
plant wiring diagrams.

5. Backup existing data. (Refer to the Database Maintenance Manual

for details about backing up the database.)

6. Create a Dry Temper calibration record so that the counter

configured in step 2 can be used (see the following screen print).

Note: The "Channel Name" may vary depending on the physical location of
the display module in the manual station.

Dry Temper Calibration Record

7. On the IO Assignments form, add the following IO for Dry

Temper.

Tips!
• Refer to the plant wiring diagrams for suggested IO locations.
• If Dry Temper was wired to different IO locations, use those IO
locations.

8. In COMMANDbatch, add a Dry Temper Extra Device using the

following two screen prints as examples.

Critical Field:

— For External Source, select the dry temper calibration record.

Critical Field:

— For the Start Limit Input, use the LOAD CMPLT IO point created
earlier in this procedure.

9. In COMMANDbatch, create a sequence step for the Dry Temper
Extra Device using the following screen print as an example.

Note: Make sure the MultiBatch box is NOT checked for the Dry Temper
sequence step unless you want to feed Dry Temper into each batch of
a multi-batch Load.

10. Run test loads to ensure that Dry Temper is working correctly.

The Dry Temper counter resets when the start condition of the sequence
becomes true.
When the LOAD CMPLT button is pressed, the value in the Dry Temper is
recorded as Temper Water and printed with the batch weights.
