Chapter (1)

Introduction
1.1 General
This project is consolidated and analysis of our year (2) project with six months duration which
is produced by all students of Year (2), Architectural Technology Department.

We carried out basic research and necessary professional steps for surveying, project
management, architectural design sketching and other related units from Architectural
Technology (HND class) knowledge Areas of three different projects

 NANDAMMANNYA PHATO (Bagan)

 Garden project of YANGON SWEL DAW MYAT PAGODA
 Miniature building making for public school building (YANGON UNIVERSITY OF
EDUCATION PRACTICING SCHOOL).

According to combining of three different aspects of project fields, we named “Three in one
project” for our title and we divided two groups with seven candidates each.

We have carried out facts and work in process of collecting data and practical details for our
report (log book). Apart from the efforts of us, the success of this three in one project depends
the largely on the guidelines of many others. First and the foremost, we thank to “SQA( Scottish
Qualification Authority)” for given as the chance to conduct this project study, despite all
difficulties. We wish to extend our utmost gratitude to our parents who made us believe that we
have so much strength and courage to preserve by the best man. We would like to show our
greatest appreciation to our MAC CREATIO University College’s teachers whose guidance
co-operation and support in all necessary field of the project. We also very thankful to
Department of Archaeology and Museum (Bagan), Department of Yangon SwelDaw Myat
Pagoda trustee and Headmistress and teachers of Yangon University of Education Practicing
School for supporting and permitting to success of this project. Last but not the least, we also
thank to our faculty members and co-mate, who assist us. They were very tolerant and gritty to
see us through.

1.2 Objective
 To gain experience in working with team
 To get an understanding how to use survey tool and procedure in a field
 To get knowledge how to work upon different aspect of fields
 To develop our sketching skills with hand and using computer aided software
 To get an understanding types of building material and construction technology from
different types of timeline (era)

Planning Stage
2.1 Project Brief
First of all, we decided three different kinds of fields in one project to cover the scope of
deliverable of relevant units from Architectural Technology.

Then, we identify the members with core-skill and identify what problems can be faced and
decided ways to solve them. Very first thing of our planning stage is to get permission from
relevant department of related project. After getting permission, we established design brief;
project schedule with timeline, requirements for each project, difficulties and solving ways for
each projects.

All of the matters, we, all candidates worked under control and guideline of supervisor teachers
from MAC CREATIO University College.

Chapter (3)
Developing Stage
3.1 Project Brief
As the objective of each project, for Nandamannya Phato Project, we measured and noted detail
of the original temple for making correction as the original according to the natural disaster and
then our delivered data will be very important to keep original shape and detail. So, we had to
make everything in measuring and sketching of this project with very precisely and we avoided
any ideas deviated from the original. Then, for this project, as there were no data on the temple
the project was used on, it was chase to be the subject on which the project was to be conducted.
Garden project is taken behavior of its aesthetic properties and scale modeling project is built to
present the project.

We did all of the projects depending on the checklist and Schedule from Planning Stage. The
project was delivered with little to no obstacle for possible difficulties were taken in account
before commencing. The deadline was met with at having to shift the dates. Small difficulties
were able to be negotiated to assignment of team members according to their individuals skills,
the over watch of the supervisors and systematically reports.

The main difficulty during the project was the negotiation to get permission to work on a
infrastructure during public viewing (or) operating hours. Also the weather conditions had to be
taken accounted. For the last project, it is the shape of public school, then we decided the summer
school close time.

3.3 Developing Steps for a project

3.3.1. Nandamannya Pahto ( Bagan)

 Planning Project Schedule

 Preparing for site trip
 Start surveying steps as soon as we reached site location

14 | P a g e
 Report survey data
 Sketch detail by identifying groups
 Measure and sketch one by one for all parts of the temple
 Checking every days and every time finished one part
 Deliver sketch to Auto CAD
 Check again with real temple
 Correction making if any necessary
 Final Check
 Deliver to supervisor

3.3.2 Garden Project (Yangon Swel Daw Myat Pagoda)

 Firstly, we visited to the site to survey .We measured the built concrete walkways and
distances of existed plants and trees
 According to the size and amount of bushes and plants to clean, we manage how many
workers are needed to hire for this purpose
 The budgets for hiring the workers and flowers and plants to plant in the garden are
estimated
 Then we divided two parts to grow the plants from the center of the site area (i) part A
and (ii) part B.
 The rough design for planting flowers is sketched.
 Then the measurement of sketch is practically measured on the site area.
 For part A, we ordered the labours as the estimated places of the flowers and plants to
grow .
 To finishing the planting fast and reduce the wastes, we have to ordered the workers
carefully.
 For part B, we have to choose carefully which plant is suitable for which place .
 To get the relaxation of the worshippers who came to Pagoda near our proposed garden ,
we planted the refreshing flowers and plants . And also we designed the plants with shape
.
 Then we decided what to do in the upcoming decoration and designation weeks. Also
prepared the things we need such as 1/2' bamboos, 1 1/2' bamboos, shovel , hammer ,
paints , clay pots , and white rock table sets.
 Then, we contemplate the textures of this garden and place the 1 1/2' bamboo chops
like the fences.

15 | P a g e
 After we managed where to place bamboos like fences , we make the walk path for the
worshippers and visitors of the Swel Taw Pagoda in the garden .
 Then we bounded the walk path with 1/2 ' bamboo and 1 1/2 'bamboos.
 We painted the bamboos with white , yellow , red , green and blue .
 As we planned the clay pots and the grovels are placed like the rocks flowing from the
pots .
 After all of that we put the set of rock table under the shaded trees.

3.3.3 Miniature Building making ( Yangon University of Practicing School)

 Planning Project Schedule

 Surveying Building
 Record measuring data and roughly sketch for building
 Deliver to Auto CAD for plan and 3D
 Cutting foam Board according to the data of plan
 Gluing to become 3D shape
 Roofing making with Foam Board and Roofing paper
 Draw, paint and glue any necessary to become the same as real building
 Adding small miscellaneous part that support to same as actual building
 Final Check

Result of Activity
After making good co-operation each candidate with the control and support of our supervisors,
finally we got precious memory, skill, knowledge and good result of project.

We would like to present all of our project in this report, however, for the Bagan project,
according to the huge project and need to present many detail picture, we can only attached with
Appendix pages for these drawings.

Conclusion

These three projects give us many advantages about applying the lectures in real time work and
help us more understanding about each subjects we have learnt. As these projects are team-work
projects, we have learnt how to communicate, realize, negotiate and work in a group as a team.
We got many friends and partners and we had not only so much fun but also a lot of stress. All of
us tried our best for the projects and took our responsibilities by the schedule for each team.
Thanks to all teachers and co-workers who helped and guided for necessaries and advices to
overcome the projects.
