Rationale:

As a core technology subject, this will clear the concept and principle used
in a electronic telecommunication. Concept such as radiation and propagation of
waves, antennas, reception and demodulation which are widely used in the field
of analog and digital communication are delt in this subject.

Objectives:

The student will be able to:

1. Understand the concept of wave propagation and transmission line.


2. Understand the construction and working of antennas.
3. Test and troubleshooting of radio receiver.

Intellectual skills:

1. Ability to inspect, analyze and record Transmission line properties.


2. Ability to study the directional pattern of any or given antenna using
field strength meter
3. Ability to apply AM input from AM generator to the radio receiver.
4. Ability to identify the different stages of AM radio receiver.
5. Ability to identify components and follow the instruction as given.
6. Ability to analyzing and recording voltages at different test point of AM
radio receiver.
7. Ability to inspect and analyzing of freq. adjustment of RF and IF stage.
8. Ability to locate the fault by logical analysis of symptom.
9. Ability to verify the output of each stage with std. value.

Motor skills:

1. Installing and testing of experimental set up and tabulate


the reading.
2. Skill to connect the instrument and plot the directional pattern of
antenna on polar paper.
