5th SCHOOL LEARNING ACTION CELL (SLAC) / PLC

GRADE II

I. INTRODUCTION

As stated in DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, Learning Action Cell (LAC) is a
session conducted by group of teachers who engage in collaborative learning
sessions to solve shared challenges encountered in school. Such challenges may
include learner diversity and student inclusion, content and pedagogy, assessment
and reporting, and 21st century skills and ICT integration. DepEd envisions that
these LAC Sessions will serve as a school-based continuing professional
development strategy for the improvement of teaching and learning.
In lieu with this, the Grade II teachers gathered last February 11, 2020 at
10:00 AM in Room 405 for their 5 th LAC session. This session aimed to discuss
some issues and concerns regarding the 3 rd quarter issuance of cards, updating
the LIS, checking of forms, conducting ELLN, conducting reading remediation, and
other school matters.
Present in the said LAC were seven (7) Grade II teachers and was facilitated
by their Master Teacher Consultant, Mrs. Mendoza.
The session ended smoothly and all concerns and issues were addressed
properly. This only means that LAC session has been proven to be effective in
engaging a group of teachers in collaborating and solving shared challenges.
Moreover, it encourages critical reflection amongst teachers which increases the
understanding and knowledge of the curriculum, decision making, and classroom
practices.

REFLECTIONS

Planning for continuous professional growth of teachers is very essential

especially today. One of which is the School Learning Action Cell. This LAC session
helps teachers to discuss, plan, monitor and assess all the teaching-learning
activities and to increase the standards of teaching for a fun and meaningful
learning.

The 5th LAC Session was done successfully since all the concerns of the
teachers were addressed. Every teacher raised their concerns and on the other hand
gave suggestions on how to help solve these issues. This only means that “There is
power and strength in unity” and when there is oneness, there is probable to be
more power in judgment, more power in achievement, and more power in
personality.
